Author has proficient reading ability of scripture, but fails to interpret with any accuracy. When interpreting scripture there are a few rules that must be employed. One is "What did this mean to the original reader", another is "This can NOT mean now, what it did not mean then". Another that is foremost, probably above all is, "Context is king".

I have found that as a piece of literature the Bible has a very high level of respect in places of higher thought and learning. Many people will use the Bible as a means to validate their own belief systems, discoveries, or theory's. People will often site it to give credibility and credence to their own work. The author has a point I assume, but what it is, I didn't find it. (I didn't read all) He failed so miserably at summarizing thoughts and connecting dots he often lost me among the sprinkling of scripture so far out of context, that my eyes glazed over.

I have no issue with someone wanting to point out historical cycles in the Bible. Surely there are many. If they want to connect modern history to the cycles of history found in the Bible, have at it. The Bible is great for that sort of thing because it passes through hundreds of years at a full gallop. However, the key notes that Biblical writers wanted you to know, may not coincide with what modern historians are hoping to find in our modern age.

Yes, the theory set forth by Stauss and Howe, The Fourth Turning, is solid. But does not require a Biblical backing to be an objective truth. It seems to me that that is what Wright is trying to accomplish; i.e. validating his thoughts by presenting them based in scripture. He does not need to do that. He needs to give evidence, based on history, facts, etc … and let the reader decide.

I noticed that Wright mentioned "The End Times" several times. He is using the Hal Lindsey popularized ideas in The Late Great Planet Earth to validate his "First Tablets of Moses" paper. I have a great deal of skepticism for people who use Bible prophesy, apply it to our modern age, and expect that to validate their opinions.

There is no prophecy in the Bible regarding America. The Bible does use the words "End of Time", "End of Days" "End of the Age" "End of the World" … these are all interpretations of the Hebrew Word "Olam Ha'aba" which translated means "End of the Age". This is a colloquialism within the Jewish community at the time the New Testament was written (and in existence today) which means; The End of the "Age" of Moses. There is also the "Age to Come" (the Olam Hazeh) which is either, the Age in which Messiah is King , or the afterlife. The Jews of Jesus's day were looking forward to the end of the Mosaic Law, i.e. "The end of the Age (of Moses)". That end came in 70 A.D. when the temple was destroyed by the Roman General Titus, and it was literally impossible for the Jews to follow the law of Moses; because there was no alter to sacrifice upon any longer. In the year 1860 or thereabouts this "end of time" was redefined, thrust into the future, and given a boogie man to lead the way, "The man of perdition" or "Antichrist" or whatever else you want to call him. In the 1970's Hal Lindsey popularized this "new" (100 yr old) teaching and got filthy rich peddling fear to America when he wrote, "The Late Great Planet Earth". The church gobbled up the "escape hatch" clause of the Rapture Theory, when for 2000 years ALL of those verses were interpreted as the resurrection.

This allows for America or Russia or China or whomever to be read into what is NOT there. Based on what little I have read, it appears to me that the author is seeking to explain his belief that the Bible is a specific instance of a more generalized template, and has chosen to apply object oriented programming concepts to organize that generalized template. In other words, he's turned the Bible into a "program" that can be run with different sets of data.

The program is comprised of a number of objects. Each object is comprised of two components. First, a set of rules. And second, data upon which these rules act. The rules provide the general framework, and the data, when acted upon by the objects in the program, result in a specific instance of the genrralized template. In one case, the objects act upon ancient data to create the story told in the Bible. Using contemporary data, the objects act to create the story of the present age.

The Bible and the story of the present age are two possible end results of the program. One, the Bible, has been realized. The other, the story of the present age, is still being written. By understanding the program, and the types of data it requires as input, the more likely we may be able to control the data we feed into the program and thereby steer to a desired outcome.
