Politician who pushed for ‘gender-neutral’ toilets has been charged with nine child sex crimes!

A local English politician who pushed for the implementation of ‘gender-neutral’ toilets just after being elected into office has now been charged with nine counts of sexual touching of a child.

According to a report by the BBC, David Smith, shortly after he was elected to the local authority in Teeside, Yorkshire as a Conservative Party politician, successfully petitioned the Mayor of Middlesbrough to trial gender-neutral toilets at the Middlesbrough Council.

In light of the allegations against him, Councillor Smith immediately resigned from the Conservative Party. After resigning Smith said that he “completely rejects” the “spurious allegations”, and claimed that he was simply “removing myself from the party [to]ensure I can focus all my efforts on fighting to clear my name.”

Despite resigning from the party, reports suggest that Smith doesn’t intend on stepping down from his role on the council. Thus, for the time being, he will continue to receive a reported £6,378 in basic allowance.

Smith claims that he “worked hard to ensure I serve the people of Coulby Newham to the best of my ability”.

Smith, also rather pathetically, claimed that “ordering bollards to be installed”, “tackling the issue of potholes”, and “being a very proud advocate of the local LGBTQ community” were all highlights and accomplishments of his career as a Conservative politician.

“This is who I am as a person and a community activist,” Smith asserted.

He added that “The allegations made against my character are nothing more than damaging lies and moving forward, I will seek to prove this is the case in a court of law.”

Before the pedophilia charges, Smith recently found himself in hot water when it came to light that he had suggested a “heinous benefit system” had led to “rotten pond life families that should be sterilized and washed” in a post on an association football forum under the screen name “Smoggy89”.

COLORADO STATE: ‘AVOID’ USING ‘AMERICANS,’ ‘AMERICA’

Colorado State University lists “America” and “American” as words to avoid.

The university’s Inclusive Language Guide also claims that “handicap parking,” “male,” and “female” should be avoided, along with many other common words and phrases.

Colorado State University claims that “American” is a non-inclusive word that should be avoided.

CSU’s online Inclusive Language Guide, compiled by the school’s Inclusive Communications Task Force, lists certain words and phrases to avoid while providing replacements in an effort to help “communicators practice inclusive language and [help] everyone on [its] campus feel welcomed, respected, and valued.” The school’s Women and Gender Collaborative website directly links to the document.

“This erases other cultures and depicts the United States as the dominant American country”

CSU lists both “American” and “America” as non-inclusive words “to avoid,” due to the fact that America encompasses more than just the U.S. By referring to the U.S. as America, the guide claims that one “erases other cultures and depicts the United States as the dominant American country.” The school suggests using “U.S. citizen” or “person from the U.S.” as substitutes.

The university additionally lists many gendered words and phrases to avoid. These include “male,” “female,” “ladies and gentlemen,” and “Mr./Mrs./Ms.”

“Male and female refers to biological sex and not gender,” says the guide. “In terms of communication methods (articles, social media, etc.), we very rarely need to identify or know a person’s biological sex and more often are referring to gender.”

“Straight” is another word to avoid, according to CSU. The guide explained that “when used to describe heterosexuals, the term straight implies that anyone LGBT is ‘crooked’ or not normal,” and says to use the word “heterosexual” instead.

“Normal person” was also listed as a phrase to avoid because it “implies that ‘other’ people… are not whole or regular people.” The guide offered no substitute word because it claimed that it is never appropriate to use the phrase to describe someone.

According to the list, the phrase “handicap parking” should also not be used because it can “minimize personhood” and offend disabled people. The guide recommends “accessible parking” as an alternative.

“War,” “cake walk,” “eenie meenie miney moe,” “Eskimo,” “freshman,” “hip hip hooray!”, “hold down the fort,” “starving,” and “policeman” were among other words and phrases deemed non-inclusive by CSU.

Operation Snow White was a criminal conspiracy by the Church of Scientology during the 1970s to purge unfavorable records about Scientology and its founder, L. Ron Hubbard. Did the US Invent Lyme Disease in the 1960s? The House Aims to Find Out..

A decades-old conspiracy theory says Cold War bio-weapons research is sickening tens of thousands of Americans a year.

In the 1960s, on an 840-acre island at the entrance to Long Island Sound, scientists at the highly guarded Plum Island Animal Disease Center were at the forefront of U.S. biological-weapons research. Specifically, they sought to create pathogens that could be deployed stealthily, via insects.

Skip ahead to 1975, when the nearby town of Old Lyme, Connecticut, became the epicenter of a strange, tick-borne illness. Children began to report unusual skin rashes, chronic fatigue, and swollen knees. In 1981, the condition was named Lyme disease. A conspiracy theory spread like a fever: that the researchers at Plum Island had engineered a new sickness, one that now afflicts more than 30,000 Americans per year.

An amendment in the House version of the 2020 National Defense Authorization Act instructs the government to investigate.

The amendment’s author, Rep. Chris Smith, D-N.J., told Defense One, “I think it’s real.”

Smith has been active in legislative efforts to expand research into the causes and treatments of Lyme disease. But his main source for his belief are books in the popular press, including 2004’s Lab 257 by Michael C Carroll and the recently released Bitten by Kris Newby. The latter features an interview with Willy Burgdorfer, a researcher who helped discover Borrelia burgdorferi, the bacteria that causes Lyme disease.

Says Smith, “This book and all the others, is it conspiracy theory stuff? I don’t think it is. There’s just too much on the record now with Burgdorfer to suggest otherwise. It might help us figure out why people are so sick…If you are going to figure out how to treat it, why not figure out how it came to be? If it came about because of bioweapons research, it might provide a clue how to unravel it. There might be some accountability for those who did this, like there should be.”

Lab officials have historically been dismissive of the idea. A 2004 New York Times article on Carrol’s book quotes Roger G. Breeze, Plum Island’s laboratory director from 1987 to 1995. ”Mr. Carroll is a Baron Munchausen, or else he has been talking to him,” Breeze said. “You don’t sell many books by concluding that federal officials are doing a really good job.”

Richard Pilch, who leads the Chemical and Biological Weapons Nonproliferation Program at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies, said evidence exists both to support and refute the conspiracy theory.

“Probably the strongest argument for a connection is simply Google Maps. You can see that the closest mainland town to Plum Island is in fact Lyme, Connecticut, where the initial cases of B. burgdorferi were identified in the 1975-76 timeframe,” he said.

Public records do show that scientists at Plum Island were conducting research into very similar sort of pathogens as well as delivery via insect, though not ticks.

But Borrelia burgdorferi was in North America long before it was discovered by Bergdorfer. (Five years ago, it was found in a 5,300-year-old mummy.) The presence of that bacteria long before its 1975 flare-up “is compelling evidence against any sort of Plum Island connection, in my opinion,” Pilch said.

“In sum, if there is a circumstantial argument for a connection between Lyme disease and Plum Island, it would likely focus on proximity and would need to be supported by accession logs or research records that show the lab received samples for defensive diagnosis/evaluation that related to B. burgdorferi in some way,” he said.

Perhaps the world is about to find out.

China's $40 Trillion Banking System Learns a Hard Lesson on Risk

China jolted markets by imposing losses on Baoshang creditors. Breaking of implicit guarantee could help reduce moral hazard.

Two months after China shocked investors with the first government seizure of a bank in two decades, market confidence in the nation’s smaller lenders has yet to fully recover.

That may be just what the country needs.

When it took control of Baoshang Bank Co. on May 24 and imposed losses on some creditors, China’s government upended the long-held assumption that it would always provide banks with a 100% backstop.

The result has been a wholesale repricing of risk for all but the largest Chinese lenders, a development that analysts say was long overdue in a country rife with moral hazard. While the upheaval has underscored the fragility of some smaller banks and adds to short-term headwinds buffeting the economy, it may ultimately put China’s $40 trillion banking system on a more sustainable path by forcing markets to differentiate between weak and strong lenders.

Before the takeover, funding costs for small- and mid-sized Chinese banks were remarkably similar to those of blue-chip names like Industrial & Commercial Bank of China Ltd., the world’s largest lender by assets.

The rationale for a lack of differentiation was simple: When times got tough, authorities would always make sure that even the smallest banks fulfilled their obligations to depositors and other creditors. That assumption kept money flowing to banks – and by extension the Chinese economy – even as critics warned that it was fueling excessive risk-taking and a dangerous buildup of bad loans.

Now – even though Baoshang has reportedly made good on almost all its obligations – a government backstop is seen as no sure thing.

The China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission didn’t respond to a fax seeking comment.

It’s hard to say if this is the outcome authorities anticipated. The Baoshang takeover was complicated by the fact that the bank was part of Xiao Jianhua’s Tomorrow Group, an investment conglomerate that’s under investigation in China. Regulators were at one point arranging for a state-owned firm to buy a stake in Baoshang, before realizing that the lender’s financial situation was more precarious than they thought, people familiar with the matter said in May.

A lack of detail in the government’s early communications on the takeover gave some investors the impression that it was hastily arranged. Market participants were also left guessing about the extent of losses facing Baoshang creditors, leading some to dramatically cut their exposure to other smaller lenders.

In the interbank funding market – a critical piece of China’s financial plumbing –- some strong banks began rejecting collateral from all but the most creditworthy counterparties. Repurchase volume tumbled by 43% in a week, according to data cited by JPMorgan Chase & Co.

Funding stress was also apparent in the market for negotiable certificates of deposit, where the interest-rate gap between lower-rated and AAA banks soared to the highest level since Bloomberg began compiling the data in 2015.

Authorities tried to ease concerns about a sudden pullback of government support, highlighting Baoshang’s links with Tomorrow Group and portraying the case as unique. They also pumped cash into the nation’s money markets to bring down borrowing costs, injecting a net 250 billion yuan ($36 billion) in a single day on May 29.

Other assistance was targeted at individual banks. To help one mid-sized lender sell bonds in June, a state-owned insurer struck a rare agreement to provide credit protection for the issuance.

As for Baoshang, officials appear to have imposed much less draconian haircuts on creditors than first feared. About 99.98% of the bank’s corporate creditors received full principal and interest payments, China’s central bank said in June. All of Baoshang’s individual savers were made whole.

Even so, creditors aren’t taking any chances. The yield gap between low- and top-rated NCDs, a key measure of the market’s wariness toward smaller Chinese banks, is still more than four times wider than it was before the Baoshang seizure.

‘Easy Business’: Pablo Escobar’s Brother Suggests Elon Musk Sell Pot

The brother of the late kingpin wants to make a weed-selling company with Elon Musk, the very man he threatened to sue for $100 million over allegations of stealing intellectual property for The Boring Company’s “not-a-flamethrower.”

Roberto Escobar, the brother of late Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar, sent a letter to US entrepreneur Elon Musk offering three solutions to the “Flamethrower beef,” between the two, Unilad reported Sunday.

Earlier in July, media reported that the late kingpin’s brother mulled suing the Tesla CEO for allegedly ripping off the Escobar Company’s design of a toy flamethrower, which Musk sold under the brand “The Boring Company.” Later, Escobar demanded Musk pay $100 million in cash of Tesla shares in order to settle the beef peacefully, saying that otherwise the drug lord’s brother will get an even bigger sum or maybe even oust Musk as Tesla’s CEO through the courts. Musk responded to the allegations by tweeting that his toy “is not a flamethrower.”

Now, Escobar has written a letter to Musk offering three (more like two and a half, actually) solutions to the former’s beef. Escobar started the letter by “giving” Musk a nickname “La Mosca” (“the fly”) before introducing himself, according to TMZ.

As the first option, Escobar demands that Musk asks US President Donald Trump to grant the former a presidential pardon. Escobar will then use that pardon to come to the US and build a joint company “Escobar Musk Enterprises” – together with the man he accuses of stealing.

As an alternative, Escobar proposed the creation of a ‘joint’ marijuana selling company called “Elon Escobar Drugs Inc.”

“I know you like to smoke. Me and Pablo smoked before. We can legally sell drugs together nowadays my friend, I know all about it. Easy business,” the letter reads.

The third solution is actually not a solution at all, as the letter warns: “there is no solution three.”

“Do these two things and we are good my friend,” Roberto writes, adding that carrying out either of the two options will “solve any issues which we have.”

Escobar Inc. launched its version of the “original, official and proprietary” Escobar Inc. Flamethrower on 11 July this year. Musk’s version was rolled in early 2018, but Escobar’s company insists a Tesla employee stole the idea in 2017. All 20,000 Musk’s flamethrowers were sold in a matter of several days.
