Drugmakers are set to raise the prices of 350 drugs at the beginning of 2023. Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKline PLC, Bristol Myers Squibb, AstraZeneca PLC, and Sanofi SA are among several drugmakers set to raise prices, according to healthcare research firm 3 Axis Advisors, Reuters reported. The price hikes are in response to a number of factors, mainly inflation, supply problems, and the Biden administration's Inflation Reduction Act, which will allow Medicare, the national government's health insurance program for seniors and people with certain disabilities, to negotiate several drug prices directly starting in 2026.

The 9th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals in the case Dodge v. Evergreen School District decided a Washington middle school teacher was exercising his free speech rights while wearing his red MAGA hat at school training sessions. Middle school teacher Eric Dodge started to wear his MAGA hat to school meetings in 2019 but principal Caroline Garrett threatened disciplinary actions against Dodge if he continued to wear the hat. Former UK prime minister Tony Blair believed Russian President Vladimir Putin should be encouraged to embrace Western values and allowed “a position on the top table” after he was elected in 2000, papers released by the National Archives on Friday reveal.

Blair reportedly described Putin as “a Russian patriot, acutely aware that Russia had lost its respect in the world” in a meeting with then-US vice president Dick Cheney in 2001, likening his mindset to that of “a Russian de Gaulle” while cautioning against any further comparison with the French leader.

While acknowledging Putin’s “low approval rating in the US,” the Labour politician told Cheney he thought it best to “encourage Putin to reach for Western attitudes as well as the Western economic model.”

Blair’s cabinet was not so convinced, according to a briefing note included in the archives, which complained about “the Russian intelligence effort against British targets” continuing “at Cold War levels.”

Despite reassuring Blair that he did not want to be considered “anti-NATO,” Putin was nevertheless attempting “to try to post active and hostile officers to work against British interests worldwide,” the author of the memo claimed.

Like his predecessor Boris Yeltsin, Putin had expressed interest in joining NATO, even allegedly asking its director outright when they planned to “invite us to join NATO” in 2000. Meetings on the subject of Russia’s possible accession to NATO had been taking place for years under Yeltsin, and Putin himself declared it was “hard for me to visualize NATO as an enemy” shortly before his election victory in 2000.

But while officials in some NATO countries embraced the idea of Russia as a member, many more didn’t, and the bloc’s eastward expansion in the early 2000s along with Western-backed uprisings in former Soviet territories eventually convinced Putin a partnership was not in the cards.

Bryan Kohberger, accused of brutally murdering four University of Idaho students, allegedly frightened women staffers at a Pennsylvania brewery near his hometown, according to a report.

Several months ago, Kohberger visited the Seven Sirens Brewing Company several times, harassing the women who worked there, owner Jordan Serulneck, 34, told NBC News.

Kohberger, who usually sat alone at the bar “observing and watching,” stood out for his interactions with employees and patrons, Serulneck said.

The brewery, which scans everyone’s IDs, has a system in which staff members can add notes or comments about a patron that will pop up on a screen whenever the ID is scanned again, Serulneck told the network.

“Staff put in there, ‘Hey, this guy makes creepy comments, keep an eye on him. He’ll have two or three beers and then just get a little too comfortable,” he said.

Kohberger would ask women — staff or customers — who they were at the brewery with, and where they lived, Serulneck said. If the women weren’t interested, “he would get upset with them a little bit.”

In one instance, Seruneck recalled he called an employee a “bitch” when she declined to answer his questions.

Serulneck said he was forced to confront Kohberger during his final visit to the brewery.

“I went up to him and I said, ‘Hey Bryan, welcome back. We appreciate you coming back. … I just wanted to talk to you real quick and make sure that you’re going to be respectful this time and we’re not going to have any issues,’” Serulneck said he told the alleged murderer, who was stunned.

Shocked former classmates remembered the accused killer as being an intelligent student in high school, but was bullied often and could, in turn, be a bully to others himself. They said he struggled with heroin addiction and weight loss.

Kohberger had been living in Pullman, Washington, at the time of the murders — about a 10-minute drive from Moscow and where he was enrolled in the university’s criminal justice Ph.D. program at Washington State University.

Below are summaries of laws that will be effective post-January 1, 2023. For further details, see California Legislation 2022.

Alerts

AB 1314 established an alert system for indigenous people who have gone missing “under unexplained or suspicious circumstances.”

Animals

SB-856 removes barriers to hunting destructive and invasive wild pigs whose population is increasing in most of California's counties.

AB-44 makes it illegal to sell or make clothing or products out of animal fur in California.

Automobiles

SB-1087 provides that the only individuals who can sell a catalytic converter is an automobile dismantler, repair dealers, or a person with documentation that they are lawful owners.

AB-1740 requires those who recycle catalytic converters to obtain the year, make, and model of the car that the converter comes from and a copy of that car's title.

Criminal

AB-2239 provides a person convicted of misdemeanor child or elder abuse on or after Jan. 1, 2023, is prohibited from possessing a firearm in California. Currently, persons convicted of felonies and certain specified misdemeanors are prohibited from owning guns in the state.

AB-1788 will subject hotels to civil penalties if employees fail to inform police officials of sex trafficking at their establishment.

AB-2294 permits police to keep individuals in custody for misdemeanor or felony retail theft if that person has been arrested or convicted of theft from a store in the past six months and if that person is suspected of being part of an organized retail theft operation

Employment

SB-3 raises the statewide minimum wage on Jan. 1, 2023, from $14 to $15.50 per hour

AB-2223, the Contraceptive Equity Act (SB-523) protects employees from discrimination based on their reproductive health decisions, including using contraceptives and removes requirements for employees to disclose those decisions as a condition of employment.

AB-1949 will make it illegal for an employer to refuse to grant bereavement leave for up to 5 days for an employee upon the death of a family member.

AB-2183 expands protections for California farmworkers by allowing them to vote by mail in union elections rather than forcing them to vote in-person.

SB-960 provides that individuals are no longer required to be citizens or permanent residents of the United States to become police officers in California; they only need to be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Energy

SB-846 extends the lifespan of the state's last operating nuclear plant at Diablo Canyon by up to five years. The bill also authorizes a loan of $1.4 billion from the state to Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E), which operates the power plant, to facilitate the extension. The plant was previously scheduled to stop operating its Unit 1 in 2024 and Unit 2 in 2025.

Health

AB-2223 also protects reproductive freedom by shielding pregnant people from criminal and civil liability in case of a miscarriage, stillbirth, or self-managed abortion.

SB-107 provides that families that come to California seeking medical treatment for transgender children and teens are protected from out-of-state subpoenas or warrants, as well as families that move to the state to avoid consequences for already seeking that treatment elsewhere.

SB-1338, also known as the Community Assistance, Recovery, and Empowerment Act, allows family members, first responders, and clinicians to ask a judge to order treatment for individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders. Those plans would include medication, housing, and therapy. Those who refuse treatment could be placed in a conservatorship and ordered to comply with the treatment.

Holidays - State

AB-1655 recognizes Juneteenth as a new state holiday on Jun. 19. Additionally, AB-2596 removes the requirement for the governor to declare Lunar New Year as a state holiday annually, and AB-1801 marks Apr. 24 as Genocide Remembrance Day in California.

Real Property

SB-561 requires an audit of all surplus state property to determine what land might be suitable for housing construction.

AB-2097 stops city and county governments across California from implementing a minimum requirement for housing developments to provide parking if those developments are within a half-mile of public transit.

Taxation – Pink Tax

AB-1287 makes it illegal for companies to charge different prices for products based on the gender referring to a practice "pink tax."

Technology

SB-717 creates a system for deploying broadband throughout California to provide improved connectivity for low-income and underserved communities.

The regulator Ofgem has confirmed its price cap will increase by around 20% from January 1 - but households are still covered by the Energy Price Guarantee, so what does this mean for your bills?

Households have been left confused after being warned of energy bill rises coming into force from this weekend.

The regulator Ofgem has confirmed its price cap will increase by around 20% from January 1 - up from £3,549 a year for someone with typical use to £4,279.

But households are still covered by the Energy Price Guarantee, which means the typical bill will remain at roughly £2,500 a year until April 2023.

This means no one currently pays the full amount under the price cap - however, you may still see slight changes to your bill from January 1.

But these changes are likely to be minimal, meaning pennies more, rather than pounds, for most households.

This has left some people confused as suppliers start to email customers about the Ofgem price cap change in January.

Your bill could change because there are regional differences in the Ofgem price cap rates, and the discount applied through the Energy Price Guarantee is a flat rate.

The Government will increase the discount it applies to energy bills from January - up from 17p per kilowatt hour to 31.8p/kWh for electricity, and from 4.2p/kWh to 6.4p/kWh for gas.

What you pay, and how your bill could change come January, depends on your supplier, where you live and how you pay for your energy.

It is also important to remember that the £2,500 figure is just used to illustrate how much the typical household will pay.

In reality, it all depends on how much energy you use - use more gas and electricity, and your bill will be higher, or use less and you’ll pay less.

On average, there will be no change in January for those paying by direct debit - with the typical bill under the Energy Price Guarantee remaining at £2,500.

For prepayment customers, the average figure will increase from £2,559 to £2,579 a year.

If you pay on receipt of bill - which is the most expensive way to pay for energy - the typical bill will increase from £2,715 to £2,754.

MoneySavingExpert has a breakdown of how prices will change region by region. Billpayers in North Wales and Merseyside will be hit with the biggest increases.

The annual cost for direct debit households in this area will rise 0.5% to £2,579, then 1.3% to £2,655 for prepayment, and 1.9% to £2,838 for pay on receipt on bill.

Those on an Economy 7 tariff, where you pay two different rates for your electricity depending on the time of day, will be hit by the biggest changes.

MoneySavingExpert says it has heard from customers who have already been told their bills are changing by 11% on average.

The next big change to energy bills will come in April 2023 when the Energy Price Guarantee will rise to £3,000 a year for the typical household.

The Duke of York is braced for his sex abuse accuser to return to the public eye as a gagging clause signed by both parties is lifted in February.

Prince Andrew paid millions to settle a civil case with Virginia Giuffre earlier this year, securing a deal that bought him just one-year of silence. The Duke did not admit any wrongdoing as part of the civil case settlement.

However, that agreement will come to an end within weeks, meaning that Ms Giuffre, who now lives in Australia with her husband and children, will be once again likely to be free to talk about the years of abuse she suffered at the hands of Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender.

It raises the prospect that she could resume television interviews, or even write a book.

Ms Giuffre sued the Duke for unspecified damages last year, claiming she was forced to have sex with him on three separate occasions in 2001, when she was 17.

The Duke, who denied any wrongdoing, was determined to take the civil case to trial and clear his name.

But Buckingham Palace urged him to settle as increasingly damaging and lurid claims dominated the news agenda and threatened to overshadow Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

The late Queen was becoming increasingly frail and may have known at the time that she did not have long to live. There was concern that, among other things, the early February announcement that Camilla, the then Duchess of Cornwall - with her mother-in-law’s blessing - would be known as the Queen Consort when Charles acceded the throne would be eclipsed by the ongoing legal battle.

Buckingham Palace announced in January that it had stripped Prince Andrew of all military titles and patronages, ordered him not to use his HRH title and ruled out any return to public duties.

However, the Duke came under intense pressure to strike a deal - eventually announced on February 15 - that would draw a line under the case and allow him to retreat from the public eye.

In order to facilitate the deal, the late Queen contributed to a hefty financial settlement which was accompanied by a 12-month gagging clause, ensuring that neither side could discuss any aspect of the case or the financial deal.

The majority of the $12 million settlement went to Ms Giuffre, while around $2 million was donated to her sex trafficking charity, it is understood.

The inclusion of the gagging clause was considered critical and is understood to have been a prerequisite for the Duke borrowing sufficient money from his family to settle the case.

However, some aides were said to be “incredulous” that Prince Andrew could have paid so much money only to have the allegations repeated after such a relatively short space of time.

A friend said when the deal was signed: "If you’re going to go for legal resolution at those sorts of prices then you want silence - but what we’ve got is silence for the Platinum Jubilee."

The gagging clause will be lifted in late February, although the specific terms of the deal have not been revealed.

It is thought that while Ms Giuffre might be free to speak publicly about her experience of being sex trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, she may have agreed not to discuss the Duke or repeat her allegations about him.

A spokesman for the Duke declined to comment.

Two years ago today on October 17th 2015, Emory Andrew Tate, Jr. passed away after being felled by a heart attack at a chess tournament. The world immediately went into mourning and the stories started to flow about his chess adventures. On March 11th, 2017, a biography detailing the life of this most loyal acolyte of Caissa was released to the public. It was titled, Triple Exclam: The Life and Games of Emory Tate, Chess Warrior. No expense was spared to produce a work befitting of the heart and soul he gave to chess. The book was well-received and in six months the initial 500 hardback, full-color copies were sold to admirers far and wide.

After the release of the book, many offered additional stories of his life and we will add a few here in his honor. We will also add some games that he played on the ICC. One of the most poignant messages was left by “Erob” on November 10th 2015 only weeks after Emory’s death.

NEW YORK (AP) — Deutsche Bank and JPMorgan Chase are asking a federal court to throw out lawsuits that claim the big banks should have seen evidence of sex trafficking by Jeffrey Epstein, the high-flying financier who killed himself in jail while facing criminal charges.

The banks said in filings late Friday they didn’t commit any negligent acts that caused harm to the women who filed the lawsuits and that the lawsuits failed to show that they benefitted from Epstein’s sex trafficking.

The filings in federal district court in New York came about a month after two women who were both identified as Jane Doe sued the banks and the government of the U.S. Virgin Islands, where Epstein had a home on a small island that he owned.

The lawsuits, which seek class-action status to represent other Epstein victims, claim that the banks knowingly benefitted from Epstein’s sex trafficking and “chose profit over following the law” to earn millions of dollars from the financier.

They suggested that the banks should have steered clear of Epstein after his 2006 arrest in Florida — he eventually pleaded guilty to state charges of soliciting prostitution — and fallout from a federal investigation and news coverage.

“Without the financial institution’s participation, Epstein’s sex-trafficking scheme could not have existed or flourished,” the lawsuits claim.

JPMorgan Chase said Friday that the Jane Doe in its case “is entitled to justice … But this lawsuit against JPMC is directed at the wrong party, is legally meritless, and should be dismissed.”

Deutsche Bank said it provided “routine banking services” to Epstein from 2013 to 2018, and the lawsuit “does not come close to adequately alleging that Deutsche Bank … was part of Epstein’s criminal sex trafficking ring.”

NFL quarterback reportedly rescues family involved in helicopter crash on his jet ski

NFL quarterback Blaine Gabbert, along with his brothers, apparently helped rescue a family Thursday who crashed into the water in a helicopter by using their jet skis to transport the family to safety.

According to Gabbert, who currently serves as a backup to future Hall of Famer Tom Brady on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he and his brothers happened to be cruising around Hillsborough Bay near Tampa on Thursday when they heard a "faint noise" and rushed to investigate.

"I just remember looking to the West and seeing it almost looked like a crew boat in the water that had broken up in about four pieces, and I vaguely remember seeing like two yellow life jackets, so I was like, 'All right we gotta go check this out,'" Gabbert said.

When they arrived, they found a family who had been forced to execute a crash water landing in a helicopter, which was rapidly sinking in the water.

"The youngest kid had just came up and said he was pinned in there and I asked if anyone else was trapped and then I called 911, tried to remain as calm as possible," Gabbert said at a Friday press conference.

Gabbert said that he was able to get two people out of the water and onto his jet ski, then help a third onto his brother's jet ski. A fourth family member was then rescued by local authorities, whom Gabbert credited with arriving with incredible speed.

While Gabbert tried to downplay any personal heroism during the news conference, saying that the rescue was mostly a case of being in the "right place at the right time," Tampa Police officer Dan Spears said that Gabbert and his brothers had "actually just about completed the rescue" when he arrived first on the scene and credited the brothers with being "very calm — great job on that. … One of the most dangerous circumstances on an aircraft is a water landing just due to the inversion of a helicopter, and trying to escape that, and not get trapped in, so it was a very amazing circumstance that everybody got out."

Tampa police honored Gabbert by making him an honorary member of their marine unit Friday.

The family was all rescued safely and have not yet commented to local media.

Gabbert has been with the Bucs since 2019. Prior to that, he served as a starter for the Jacksonville Jaguars for several years.

Civilians killed and injured as Kiev shells Donbass – officials

Ukrainian troops have ramped up attacks on residential areas amid New Year celebrations

The city of Donetsk as well as other locations across the Donetsk (DPR) and Lugansk (LPR) People’s Republics came under heavy artillery and rocket attacks by Kiev forces overnight. The shelling, which targeted primarily residential areas, continued into the day, with the Ukrainian military using 155mm NATO-caliber artillery and Western-supplied multiple rocket launchers, according to local authorities.

Three people, including a three-months-old boy, were injured as a result of shelling of Donetsk’s central district, the city’s mayor Alexey Kulemzin reported on Sunday.

More than 15 civilians were injured in the attacks on the town of Makeevka, a satellite of Donetsk located immediately to northeast of the city. The town has been repeatedly targeted with various weaponry over the past 24-hour period, according to local authorities.

At least six civilians were killed in the Ukrainian attack on a hospital, located at the town of Pervomaysk in the LPR. Deputy head physician of the hospital, Tatyana Kovalyeva, told RIA Novosti the facility was targeted with rocket salvos three times, with intervals of some 30 minutes, in an apparent ‘double-tap’ effort to strike the hospital itself and then first responders.

“At least six people have been killed, and the figure may grow as we’re still searching through debris,” Kovalyeva stated.

The cities of Donbass have been repeatedly subjected to heavy artillery and rocket attacks by Kiev troops amid the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, with more than 1,000 civilians perishing last year in the DPR alone.

Both sides of the ongoing conflict have apparently been very active amid the New Year's Eve celebrations. While Kiev troops shelled settlements across Donbass, the Russian military launched a new large-scale missile barrage across Ukraine.

The Russian Defense Ministry said on Sunday it had targeted drone manufacturing facilities and stockpiles during the latest salvo, disrupting Kiev’s plans to carry out “terrorist attacks” against Russia.

US Congress urged to assess ‘risks’ of Patriot delivery to Ukraine

A congressional advisory body has outlined issues lawmakers could face over the supply of anti-aircraft systems to Kiev

The US Congress is facing issues “in both its legislative and oversight roles” over the planned delivery of Patriot anti-aircraft systems to Ukraine, the Congressional Research Service (CRS) has warned. The research institute is a US government agency that provides expert support to members of Congress on a nonpartisan basis.

The US government pledged to deliver one battery of the advanced MIM-104 Patriot anti-aircraft system to Kiev earlier this month, following an unannounced visit to Washington by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.

The timeframe for the delivery remains unclear, as the operation of the system requires dozens of trained personnel. US media outlets have suggested that Ukrainian troops may be invited to America for training, which has yet to occur in the context of the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

Training repair crews for the Patriot system alone takes some 53 weeks, the CRS noted, adding that “there is a lot of learning to do before Ukraine will have a functioning Patriot system on the ground.”

The research body also urged lawmakers to examine the exact source of the battery to be supplied to Kiev. It’s still unclear whether Washington itself or some of its NATO allies will provide the Patriot battery. The CRS warned that, ultimately, the “battery and associated interceptors being sent to Ukraine could be taken from existing army units and stockpiles.”

“If it is withdrawn from other operational forces, such as US Central Command or US Indo-Pacific Command, transferring the system to Ukraine may create opportunity costs and potential risks in those theaters,” it said, adding that supplying a battery from the US homeland “could impede training or modernization cycles.”

The research agency also raised concerns over the “massive price tag” of the Patriot systems and their interceptor missiles, which are “estimated to cost about $4 million per missile.” According to available data, “a newly produced Patriot battery costs about $1.1 billion, including about $400 million for the system and about $690 million for the missiles,” the CRS said.

Congress should therefore consider the question of whether certain “restrictions [would] be imposed on what types of hostile systems can be engaged by” the systems operated by Ukrainian troops, the agency suggested.

Three New York City police officers were stabbed by a man wielding a machete in an unprovoked attack near Times Square shortly before the city’s famed New Year’s Eve celebration, authorities said Sunday morning.

NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell said the officers are hospitalized in stable condition after the incident, which occurred around 10 p.m. Saturday at the corner of West 52nd Street and 8th Avenue.

The officers shot the suspect, a 19-year-old man, in the shoulder.

Detectives are investigating whether the suspect, identified by police sources as Trevor Bickford of Maine, has ties to Islamic extremism based on his online activity, The New York Post reported.

The attack occurred when the suspect attempted to strike one if the officers over the head with a machete, Sewell said. The suspect then struck two additional officers before one fired his service weapon.

No civilians were injured.

The FBI and the federal Joint Terrorism Task Force are assisting, and the attack is believed to be isolated to the single suspect, officials said.

I want to be very clear … there is no ongoing threat,” said Mike Driscoll, the FBI assistant director in charge of the New York field office, according to CNN.

“We believe this was a sole individual at this time,” he said, adding, “There is nothing to indicate otherwise.”

Suspect Behind NYPD New Year’s Eve Attack Was on FBI Radar – Trevor Bickford a Recent Convert to Islam

A rookie NYPD officer was stabbed in the head Saturday night near Times Square amid New Year’s Eve celebrations.

A second NYPD officer was struck with a pipe or a blunt object.

The suspect was shot by police and taken into custody.

The police officer was rushed to a nearby hospital and is expected to recover.

According to the New York Post, the injured police officer was a rookie on his first day on the job.

The suspect, 19-year-old Trevor Bickford of Wells, Maine, was shot in the shoulder and taken to a nearby hospital.

According to FOX News Trevor Bickford was on the FBI radar and recently converted to Islam.

A high-level police source also tells Fox News Digital that Bickford was being watched by the FBI’s counterterrorism task force in the weeks leading up to Saturday’s attack. The source also said Bickford recently converted to Islam and a tipster claimed he had expressed interest in going to Afghanistan.

The first cop, a rookie on his first night of policing, was slashed in the head, prompting another nearby officer to shoot Bickford. That officer was also struck, but he was not seriously injured. The first officer, identified by authorities only as Paul, is expected to recover.

Meanwhile, the FBI is rounding up Trump supporters who were standing outside the US Capitol two years after the Jan. 6 protests.

The FDIC's official problem bank list is comprised of banks with a CAMELS rating of 4 or 5, and the list is not made public (just the number of banks and assets every quarter). Note: Bank CAMELS ratings are also not made public.

CAMELS is the FDIC rating system, and stands for Capital adequacy, Asset quality, Management, Earnings, Liquidity and Sensitivity to market risk. The scale is from 1 to 5, with 1 being the strongest.

As a substitute for the CAMELS ratings, surferdude808 is using publicly announced formal enforcement actions, and also media reports and company announcements that suggest to us an enforcement action is likely, to compile a list of possible problem banks in the public interest.

Update on the Unofficial Problem Bank List through December, 2022. Since the last update at the end of September 2022, the list decreased by two to 49 institutions after four additions and six removals. Assets decreased by $401 million to $51.1 billion, with the change primarily resulting from a $1.3 billion decrease from updated asset figures through September 30, 2021. A year ago, the list held 57 institutions with assets of $56.6 billion. Added during the fourth quarter of 2022 was Union County Savings Bank, Elizabeth, NJ ($1.8 billion); Union State Bank, Pell City, AL ($266 million); Citizens Savings Bank and Trust Company, Nashville, TN ($140 million); and Wabash Savings Bank, Mount Carmel, IL ($9.8 million). Removals during the quarter because of action termination included Quontic Bank, New York, NY ($793 million); Cecil Bank, Elkton, MD ($243 million); Neighborhood National Bank, San Diego, CA ($119 million); The First National Bank of Hope, Hope, KS ($82 million); and Home Bank of Arkansas, Portland, AR ($65 million). Ashton State Bank, Ashton, NE ($20 million) found their way off this list through a voluntary merger.

On December 1, 2022, the FDIC released third quarter results and provided an update on the Official Problem Bank List. While FDIC did not make a comment within its press release on the Official Problem Bank List, they provided details in an attachment that listed 42 institutions with assets of $164 billion. In its 2022 first quarter release, the FDIC list had a material $119 billion increase in assets.

It has been more than six months since that enforcement action was issued, so it seems the primary regulator considers this a “reasonable time” before it informs the public of a large troubled institution.

Regulators still haven't disclosed the "whale" (that added close to $120 billion to problem assets).

The most popular party in Switzerland, the Swiss People’s Part (SVP), known for its agrarian roots and opposition to mass immigration, is set to pursue a referendum calling for the renegotiation of international treaties, or even their complete abandonment, if the Swiss population hits 10 million.

As John Cody reports at Remix News, the proposed referendum comes at a time when Europe increasingly faces environmental catastrophe, a housing crisis, and huge strains on public resources due to soaring immigration levels. Many European nations are among the most densely populated nations in the world and life in them is only expected to become more crowded in the near future unless dramatic action is taken. Switzerland is no exception.

“Our country is cracking in every corner. We are going through the debacles of recent years. If we don’t intervene, we will be overtaken by events,” said Marcel Dettling, the SVP’s campaign manager.

Dettling warns that economic migration remains high, especially from groups known for their difficulty integrating into Switzerland, a fact highlighted by Switzerland’s alarming prison population data.

“Today, there is very strong economic migration,” says Dettling.

“Whoever has set foot in Switzerland will never leave the country. Migrants from Africa have welfare rates of 34 percent.”

Dettling’s party is meeting on Jan. 6 and 7 in Thurgau, near the shores of Lake Constance, and the main topic of discussion is expected to be immigration, with the new referendum featuring the working title “initiative for sustainability.”

Gigi Jordan, the millionaire pharmaceutical executive convicted of manslaughter in the death of her 8-year-old son, was found dead inside her Brooklyn home in what cops are investigating as a possible suicide, The Post has learned.

Her body was found around 12:30 a.m. Friday at her apartment in in Stuyvesant Heights, according to sources — just hours after US Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor issued an order that was expected to send Jordan, 62, back to prison.

The cause of death has yet to be determined, but sources said a note was found at the scene.

It marks what may be the final chapter in a long tale full of bizarre twists and turns.

Jordan was accused of force-feeding her autistic son, Jude Mirra, a lethal dose of pills in February 2010 inside a luxury suite at the Peninsula Hotel.

During a strange six-week trial, Jordan’s defense lawyers argued she killed the boy while in a state of extreme emotional disturbance, fearing he was about to be murdered by her ex-husband.

A Manhattan jury acquitted her of the top murder count, but found Jordan guilty of manslaughter in 2014.

Jordan was sentenced to 18 years in prison — but a federal judge tossed her conviction in 2020 over a procedural misstep.

The trial judge had briefly sealed the courtroom over the objection of Jordan’s lawyers and US Magistrate Judge Sarah Cave ruled that while the error hadn’t harmed Jordan’s case, her Sixth Amendment right to a fair trial had been violated.

Jordan was sprung from prison Dec. 9, 2020 after serving more than 10 years of her sentence. At the time, Cave ordered her released to home confinement on a $250,000 bond as her case played out.

On Thursday, Sotomayor issued an order reversing a previous one from Dec. 20 allowing Jordan to remain free on bail while the high court weighed her appeal, Law & Crime reported.
