David Weiss Drops One Gun Charge Count Against Hunter Biden
Special Counsel David Weiss dropped one of the gun charges count against Hunter Biden on Wednesday.
The move is apparently a procedural step, according to the Associated Press:
The procedural step removes a charge alleging he broke a law against drug users having guns when he bought a gun in 2018, during a period he has acknowledged struggling with addiction.
The president’s son is now facing a three-count indictment focused on the same purchase that includes both gun possession and false statement charges. No new tax counts have yet been filed by special counsel David Weiss, who is overseeing the case.
Hunter Biden had been expected to avoid prosecution on the gun charge and plead guilty to misdemeanor tax counts in an agreement with prosecutors. But the deal collapsed after a judge raised questions about it in a July hearing and the new indictment was filed weeks later.
Hunter Biden’s lawyers wrote in an August court filing that Weiss’s decision to “renege on the previously agreed-upon plea agreement” is still in effect and binding. The diversion agreement allowed Hunter Biden to plead guilty to misdemeanor tax violations while essentially wiping a felony gun violation from his record.

Top British University’s Arab and Islamic Studies School Offers Degree in ‘Magic and Occult Science’
The Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies at the University of Exeter promises “decolonisation… feminism, and anti-racism” in its new Master’s Degree in Magic and Occult Science, the first of its kind in the UK.
The University of Exeter, part of the Russel Group of leading British universities, has launched a Master of Arts in Magic and Occult Science, a development perhaps reflecting the rise of interest in the occult in the increasingly post-Christian West.
Delivered through the University’s Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies, which by Exeter’s own reckoning is “one of Europe’s most renowned centres for research and teaching in the Arab and Muslim world”, the one or two-year course at a cost of £12,000, or £24,300 ($29,750) to international applicants gives students the opportunity to “Build interdisciplinary expertise whilst exploring your specific interests within the long and diverse history of esotericism, witchcraft, ritual magic, occult science, and related topics.”
An online prospectus advertising the course illustrates key benefits including an invitation for students to join monthly meetings of the “prestigious Centre for Magic and Esotericism” and the chance to study the course’s core course, “Esotericism and the Magical Tradition”.
Taking in a long run of magic in history, the course explores “magic in Greece and Rome, occult texts in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, the history of witchcraft, magic in literature and folklore, deception and illusion, and the history of science and medicine”
The course is not, apparently, also without a crusading, cultural element. As expressed by Exeter, delivering the course through the Institute puts “the Arabo-Islamic cultural heritage back where it belongs in the centre of these studies and in the history of the ‘West’,” and students will find “the exploration of alternative epistemologies, feminism, and anti-racism are at the core of this programme.”
Speaking to The Guardian course leader Professor Emily Selove said in the recent past people dismissed “the study of magic and the occult” as irrelevant but said modern people are superstitious and this is worth studying. “A recent surge in interest in magic and the occult inside and outside academia lies at the heart of the most urgent questions of our society”, she said.
The paper cited “the growth in the popularity of folklore, witchcraft, tarot and crystals, which has been understood as a reaction to the decline of organised religion” as a key factor. It further reported further classes open to students which include “dragons in western literature and art, the legend of King Arthur… and the philosophy of psychedelics.”
While Christianisation in the 7th century functionally ended Pagan beliefs in the British Isles, it has seen occasional resurgence since, with esoteric Druidic groups founded in Georgian and Victorian England as an outgrowth of Celtic nationalism and the Romantic movement. Interest in occultism also caught some wealthy Britons in the early 20th century, including, most infamously, philosopher Aleister Crowley.
A loss of faith in traditional structures and conventions after the Second World War, and a cultural folk revival saw a new growth in neo-Paganism in the mid-20th century. By the early 2000s, Paganism was being recorded as a religion in the national census, with the 2021 taking recording 87,000 self-reported Pagans and Wiccans, the largest of the ‘other’ religions.
Druidism has its most visible public exposure in the United Kingdom annually on the summer solstice, when Pagans meet at the ancient Stone Henge. The ring of standing stones, each around 13 feet tall and weighing 25 tons is one of the most important Neolithic sites in the world and is reckoned to be some 5,000 years old.

What is USAID Doing in Georgia?
US bilateral relations with Georgia (the country, not to be confused with the American state) seem a bit tarnished, and it’s USAID’s activities in Georgia that are to blame.
The Georgian State Security Service (GSSS) has accused the agency of funding an NGO that trained Georgian youth to organize unrest, the start of which was planned for October-December this year. The US Embassy in Tbilisi stated that the allegations were false. But Georgian authorities were not satisfied with this answer, describing the US response as “astonishing and insulting.”
So, is the US spending money in the Caucasus country, and if so, for what purposes? Sputnik investigates.
What Happened?
On Monday, the GSSS made a statement that three Serbian citizens from the Center for Applied Nonviolent Action and Strategies (CANVAS), funded by USAID, went to Tbilisi to teach youth and local NGO leaders to organize unrest.
According to the Georgian security service, from September 26 to 29, representatives of several local NGOs and civil activists underwent training in a hotel in Tbilisi. These individuals were trained to act, in particular, against the government, the State Security Service, and other agencies. They were also taught the technique of creating pickets and artificial traffic jams.
The same day, Georgian Parliamentary Speaker Shalva Papuashvili asked USAID for clarifications regarding funding in organizing a coup, and cited the incident as “a dark day in the history of American aid to Georgia.”
In response, the US Embassy in Tbilisi said all the allegations were false and that USAID would continue to support “Georgian organizations who support people to secure the future they determine.”
“Allegations made publicly today against one of our assistance projects are false and fundamentally mischaracterize the goals of our assistance to Georgia. USAID has been supporting the Georgian people since 1992. As always, our assistance is transparent, and we welcome any opportunities to discuss any concerns the government may have,” the official statement said.

Scientists are making significant strides in the development of a groundbreaking drug that could potentially enable the regrowth of teeth.
Clinical trials are scheduled to commence in July next year. They hope it will be available for dentists to use by 2030.
Tooth anomalies at birth are common in humans, affecting one per cent of people worldwide. But a drug to make teeth regrow would be a world first.
The research, led by the Medical Research Institute Kitano Hospital in Osaka, Japan, aims to bring “a therapeutic drug for patients who lack a full set of adult teeth due to congenital factors” - related to genetic or developmental influences that occurred before birth.
“People with anodontia [the medical term for a complete absence of teeth] don’t have natural teeth because they never developed them. The condition often appears alongside other genetic conditions, such as ectodermal dysplasia [defects of the hair, nails, teeth, skin and glands]. Common treatments include dentures and dental implants,” according to information on Cleveland Clinic’s website.
The condition - also known as tooth agenesis - hinders basic abilities like chewing, swallowing and speaking from a young age, which can negatively impact development.

Dr Katsu Takahashi, head of the dentistry and oral surgery department at the Medical Research Institute Kitano Hospital, has been working on the drug since his graduate student days, in the early nineties.
"The idea of growing new teeth is every dentist's dream,” he said to Japanese journal The Mainichi, adding that he was confident he’d be able “to make it happen."
The groundbreaking dentistry endeavour, supported by the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED), aims “to deliver a therapeutic drug to patients with congenital edentulism [people wholly or partially toothless] through the cooperation of more than 10 medical institutions and research institutes nationwide,” reads a statement on the clinic’s website.
“We believe that this research will clarify the mechanism of the disease (congenital Anodontia) for you and many other patients and contribute to the development of a cure.”
Groundbreaking research reveals ‘definitive association’ between gut microbiome and autism
The research team has already successfully stimulated the growth of "third-generation" teeth - following the first round baby teeth and then permanent adult teeth - in animal models by targeting a gene called USAG-1, which has been found to limit tooth growth in mice.
By developing a neutralising antibody medicine that blocks the action of USAG-1, Takahashi’s team induced tooth regrowth in mice and ferrets.
The promising results were published in the scientific journal Nature in 2021, capturing the attention of the global scientific community.
A drug to regrow teeth would be revolutionary, providing an alternative solution for individuals who have lost their teeth due to severe cavities or dental diseases.
Work is now underway to get the drug ready for human use. And once its safety and efficacy are ensured, the focus will be on treating children aged 2 to 6 who display signs of anodontia, reported the Mainichi.
Dr Takahashi envisions a future where tooth-regrowth medicine becomes a viable third option alongside dentures and implants, offering individuals a chance to regain their natural teeth.
"We hope to pave the way for the medicine's clinical use," Takahashi noted.

Los Angeles County's zero-bail system went into effect on Sunday, eliminating the previous policy of setting defendants' cash bail amounts based on the severity of their alleged crime.
Critics of the old policy of cash bail amounts being proportionate to the severity of a crime claimed it favored the rich who could afford bail while failing to adequately ensure public safety.
Now, the zero-bail system, officially known as Pre-Arraignment Release Protocols, is facing criticism from supporters of law and order who argue it removes accountability from the justice system by allowing most suspects arrested for allegedly committing a crime to be quickly released from custody instead of remaining in jail as they await charges and trial unless they are accused of the most serious of crimes.
"Our communities have not been shy about telling us how nervous they are about this change," LA County Sheriff Robert Luna told the Board of Supervisors last week, FOX 11 LA reported.

The sheriff also said he understands the need to respect the constitutional rights of arrestees, but that zero bail can demoralize law enforcement who work to make arrests before watching the suspect "walk away with a citation as the victim looks on in disbelief."
County supervisor Holly Mitchell, however, contends that the new bail system does not mean criminals are escaping consequences.
"It's really dangerous for us to conflate bail with accountability," Mitchell said, adding, "Bail means I have the resources to pay my way out of jail."
The new system was enacted following criticism that cash bail favored the rich since wealthy people arrested for more serious crimes could afford to pay for their release from custody while low-income people accused of lesser offenses were forced to remain behind bars.

Most people arrested on suspicion of non-violent or non-serious offenses will either be cited and released at the scene or booked and released at a police or sheriff's station with orders to appear in court on a specific date for arraignment once charges are filed.
Arrestees suspected of being an increased risk to the public or a flight risk will be referred to a magistrate judge, who will determine whether the accused should be held in custody pending arraignment or released under non-financial restrictions, including electronic monitoring.
A judge could change or revoke the defendant's release conditions after they are charged and appear in court for arraignment.
LA County Jail
On Friday, 12 Southland cities filed court papers in Los Angeles Superior Court seeking an injunction blocking the zero-bail system from taking effect over concerns it will harm public safety.
The county implemented a zero-bail system during the COVID-19 pandemic to prevent overcrowding in jails, but the policy was lifted a year ago. In May, a Los Angeles judge issued a preliminary injunction ordering an end to cash bail by the Los Angeles police and sheriff's departments.
The Los Angeles Superior Court announced in July its plans for the new system. Presiding Judge Samantha Jessner said at the time, "A person's ability to pay a large sum of money should not be the determining factor in deciding whether that person, who is presumed innocent, stays in jail before trial or is released."
Speaking to the Board of Supervisors last week, some county supervisors said that their offices have received many calls from residents concerned about the new system's impact on crime, particularly given the recent mob-style smash-and-grab burglaries in which the suspects in those crimes reportedly were arrested and quickly released before committing more crimes.

The world as we know it is “collapsing” amid rapidly accelerating climate change and inaction by global leaders, Pope Francis has warned. He singled out developed Western nations as the main culprits behind the crisis.
In his Apostolic Exhortation entitled Laudate Deum and published on Wednesday, the head of the Roman Catholic Church lamented that little progress has been made since he released the Encyclical Letter Laudato Si’ on the topic back in 2015.
“The world in which we live is collapsing and may be nearing the breaking point,” with the current climate crisis threatening the very “dignity of human life,” the Pontiff insisted. He went on to stress that its consequences are becoming increasingly harder to ignore, manifesting themselves in “extreme weather phenomena, frequent periods of unusual heat, drought.”
According to the Pope, the notion that poorer nations are largely responsible for global warming is wholly fallacious. The Pontiff pointed out that “emissions per individual in the United States are about two times greater than those of individuals living in China, and about seven times greater than the average of the poorest countries.” With that in mind, he called for a “broad change in the irresponsible lifestyle connected with the Western model.”
Francis strongly criticized climate change deniers, proclaiming that “it is no longer possible to doubt the human – ‘anthropic’– origin” of the phenomenon. He noted that global temperatures have risen in the last fifty years at a speed unseen over the past two millennia.
The Pope lamented that the “climate crisis is not exactly a matter that interests the great economic powers, whose concern is with the greatest profit possible at minimal cost and in the shortest amount of time.” He also took aim at large multinational organizations over their inefficacy.
Francis argued that previous crises, such as the major economic slump in 2008 and the Covid-19 pandemic, presented unique opportunities to “bring about beneficial changes” which were all “squandered.”
The Pope’s 2015 appeal came months before the ratification of the Paris Climate Accords, with a Vatican delegation attending the negotiations. In the following years, the Holy See has hosted numerous conferences devoted to the fight against climate change, which featured both religious and business leaders. Francis has delivered many speeches on the topic, including at the UN and the US Congress.

DHS Let 200,000 Illegal Aliens Fly Directly Into 43 Cities
The Biden regime recently introduced a new program to increase illegal immigration that allows migrants to fly straight from their homelands into a United States city of their liking, per recently obtained records.
As opposed to overwhelming the Texas border, this program allows illegal aliens to use the regime’s app to select a destination, purchase an airline ticket, and fly in without being effectively detected.
Per the Center for Immigration Studies, north of 210,000 of illegal aliens have been processed since January. CIS filed a lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security for the program’s documents. Paul Bedard of the Washington Times noted that this figure “is a population the size of Rochester, New York, or Des Moines, Iowa.”
“DHS cajoles tens of thousands of intending illegal border-crossers per month to instead go on the CBP One smartphone application, and make an appointment with U.S. officials at land ports of entry instead of crossing illegally. After making an appointment, DHS invites these inadmissible aliens to walk over to the American side at the land ports, where U.S. Customs officials quickly ‘parole’ them in, allowing them to travel to a city of their choice in the nation’s interior,” CIS immigration analyst Todd Bensman stated in the report.
“Haitians flew into U.S. airports in the greatest numbers from January through mid-September, a total of 76,582. These Haitians favored one redacted airport over all 36 into which they have flown. Some 47,768 flew into that airport,” the report noted.
“The program was offered to Venezuelans a few months earlier, in October 2022. Since then, 63,360 flew into 43 airports, some 39,474 of them into one preferred airport. Some 46,794 Cubans flew into 41 airports, the majority of them, 33,355, favoring one in particular,” it continued.
Bensman’s report noted, “It’s likely that the preferred airport in all these cases was Miami, but we won’t know for sure unless CBP provides the unredacted information.”
The CIS observed that the program is different from the regime’s practice of filling aircraft in border towns and flying carrying out “ghost flights” into cities during the late night hours.
“Biden officials have rarely, if ever, spoken of this ‘family unification’ flight program in the year since implementing it, perhaps mindful of the political outcry over the late-night ‘ghost flights’ that DHS stealthily arranges to ferry migrant children into various airports, and mindful, too, of strong recent political backlash in large U.S. cities like New York and Chicago to paroled migrants busing themselves in from the border. Here, migrants flying directly into America go uncounted in the monthly Border Patrol tallies, unnoticed, and without media inquiry, virtually all information about it almost hermetically sealed,” the report highlighted.
There’s no question that the Biden regime is 100% committed to the Great Replacement agenda. It’s doing everything possible — from opening the border to facilitating flights into the country — to ensure that the Historic America Nation is completely displaced by foreign migrants. Frankly, there are few people in Congress who are willing to stop this civilization-destroying process.
In light of this harsh reality, it’s going to take an America First takeover for matters to be set straight in Congress.

The FBI didn’t just launch an investigation into Trump based on “uncorroborated intelligence”; it used the Clinton-funded Steele dossier to obtain a FISA warrant to spy on his campaign.
These kinds of nefarious activities continued into the 2020 election, in which these agencies (along with the CIA) worked overtime to discredit damaging reporting about then-candidate Joe Biden. These departments even went so far as to pressure Big Tech platforms in the months leading up to the election to censor information like the Hunter Biden laptop story when it became public. Like clockwork, these companies acquiesced.
And who could forget Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, whose “Zuckbucks” flooded local election offices in key battleground states to change how elections were administered and effectively fund a Democrat get-out-the-vote operation?
Now, as the country hurtles towards another intense presidential election, Democrats are once again putting their feet on the electoral scale to rig the 2024 contest in their favor.
1. FBI Targeting of Conservatives
Another facet of so-called “law enforcement” agencies’ election interference is their blatant targeting of conservatives. Within the past few years, the FBI has been caught directing its fire at parents attending school board meetings, Catholics who attend Latin Mass, and innocent pro-lifers, to name a few.
Given these actions, it wasn’t shocking when Newsweek reported on Wednesday that the agency is gearing up to single out supporters of former President Donald Trump as “domestic terrorists” ahead of the 2024 contest. As The Federalist’s Jordan Boyd reported, “Testimony from more than a ‘dozen current or former government officials who specialize in terrorism’ to Newsweek confirmed that this increase in targeting was born out of the FBI’s decision to lump Trump supporters into its expanded definition of ‘domestic extremism.'”
2. Protecting Joe Biden
Former business associates, IRS and FBI whistleblowers, bank records, text messages, emails, reporting from a “highly credible” informant, and even President Joe Biden himself have all corroborated different aspects of the latter’s involvement in his family’s corrupt foreign business ventures. But according to Democrats and their legacy media allies, this is just evidence of a father’s love for his son.
From the moment mountains of evidence began piling up, implicating Biden in playing a major role in his family’s international influence-peddling scheme, Democrats have done all they can to hide, excuse, and obfuscate the massive scandal surrounding the sitting president. With help from the DOJ — which almost got away with offering Biden’s son, Hunter, a sweetheart plea agreement to evade future criminal charges and has routinely hindered investigative efforts into the Bidens — these acts represent a clear attempt by Democrats to hide damning information about the sitting president from the American public ahead of the 2024 election.

Shasta supervisor vows to ignore new California law forbidding election hand counts
Gov. Gavin Newsom signed into law a bill that bans hand counts in elections in all but the smallest jurisdictions in California, setting up what could be a political and legal collision in Shasta County over whether manual or machine tallying will happen in the next election in November.
AB 969, which targeted Shasta County’s controversial move to eliminate machine tallies in local elections, was signed by Newsom on Wednesday.
The bill is an urgency statute, so it takes effect immediately.
Shasta County Board of Supervisors Chairman Patrick Jones said Wednesday he had been expecting the governor to sign the bill.
The new law will not affect Shasta County’s plans to hand count ballots in the November 2023 and presidential primary election in March 2024, Jones said.
“I've asked legal counsel to weigh in on this. And I believe that it does not affect Shasta County,” Jones said. “We already made that decision to get away from machines in January and February. We have been waiting this entire time for the Secretary of State, which she said she would approve a hand tabulation plan. She has yet to do so. So she's simply dragging her feet on this. But we have already made our decision. And a majority of the board has already spoken.”

Former President Donald Trump will attend a GOP closed candidate House forum next Tuesday, where Republicans will discuss potential nominees to replace Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).
On Wednesday, Trump posted the above photo of himself in the Speaker's chair holding a gavel, however as the NY Post reported the same day, there's a little-known House GOP rule barring anyone with a felony indictment against serving in the role.
"A member of the Republican Leadership shall step aside if indicted for a felony for which a sentence of two or more years’ imprisonment may be imposed," according to the Republican Conference Rules of the 118th Congress.
That said, the rules could be altered to make way for Trump.
Despite the gavel post, however, it appears Trump doesn't actually want the job - and may just be attending to help steer the process. In a Thursday Truth social post, he said:

Slay News:Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) reportedly held secretive meetings with Sam Bankman-Friedand persuaded the disgraced former FTX CEOto donate millions of dollars to anti-Trump Republicans.
McConnell gave the Democrat megadonor a list of Republican candidates who were running against President Donald Trump’s endorsements in the 2022 elections.
The meeting was revealed by Michael Lewis, the author of The Big Short, during an interview with “60 Minutes” on Sunday. He appeared on the left-wing show to discuss his upcoming book “Going Infinite.”
The new book centers around disgraced FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried.
