IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley said the leadership of the DOJ’s criminal investigation of Hunter Biden for alleged tax and gun violations prevented subordinates from investigating “the big guy.” Speaking with Bret Baier on Fox News Channel’s “Special Report,” Shapley said one of the biggest challenges of investigating Hunter Biden was the inability to ask about the “big guy,” an alias that whistleblower Tony Bobulinski originally revealed as Joe Biden from his dealings between the Bidens and a Chinese entity. “The crux of one of the issues here is that we weren’t allowed to ask questions about to add. We weren’t allowed to ask about the ‘big guy,'” he said.

EU warns against selfish geoengineering
Spraying reflective particles into the atmosphere may cool one area of the Earth, but studies show it risks heating others even more
The European Commission has warned the bloc’s lawmakers that geoengineering –large-scale technological interventions to mitigate climate change – is fraught with potential “unintended consequences.”
The EU executive body said in a statement released on Wednesday that deploying technologies like solar radiation modificationwithout sufficient understanding of the potential dangers– either for Europeans or populations elsewhere in the world – could be devastating.
“These technologies introduce new risks to people and ecosystems, while they could also increase power imbalances between nations, spark conflicts and raises a myriad of ethical, legal, governance and political issues,” the statement continued, adding thatthere were no existing rules to ensure such technologies were deployed safely, and that any serious efforts must engage the EU and UN.
“Nobody should be conducting experiments alone with our shared planet,” EU climate policy chief Frans Timmermans told reporters earlier this week, calling for any proposed experiments to be “discussed in the right forum, at the highest international level.”
It’s the latest sign of global concern over climate interventions. Billionaire Microsoft co-founder andBill Gates attempted to bring his Harvard geoengineering teamand theirsun-dimming experiment to the north of Sweden in 2021, only to meet withferocious oppositionfrom the indigenous Saami population and Swedish NGOs, forcing them to return to the US.
Gates has invested heavily in stratospheric aerosol injection, a type of geoengineering in which finely powdered rock is released into the atmosphere to block some of the sun’s rays. Indigenous leaders warned the experiment would create a “moral hazard,” destroying any incentive to reach net zero carbon emissions. Meanwhile, the US – and the rest of the world – would be locked into a geoengineering sequence permanently, as halting the process would result in a sudden rebound of heating.
Critics have also pointed to studies showing that geoengineering setups like Gates’s could destabilize areas of the world in which they are not deployed, worsening the effects of climate change elsewhere by as much as 9%, even as they cooled whichever wealthy country could afford to deploy them.
Mexico banned geoengineeringexperiments in January after a startup called Make Sunsets tried spraying sulfur particles into the air “without any public engagement or scientific scrutiny,” according to MIT Technology Review. The university condemned that experiment, but has remained bullish on geoengineering, recently suggesting it “might be our final and only option.” The UN released a report in March backing the idea.
The European Commission included its concerns in a document reimagining what it called “the climate and security nexus.” The bloc’s leaders argued that climate change posed a greater threat to national security than ever – not just with biodiversity and resource depletion, but with a surge in migrant populations, more interactions with disease-carrying animals, and potentially runaway technology.

Biden’s Iran Envoy Placed On Leave After Probe Into Handling Of Classified Material: Report
President Joe Biden’s special envoy to Iran has reportedly been placed on leave and his security clearance suspended amid an investigation into his handling of classified material.
CNN reported that Rob Malley, who has been widely criticized for being soft on Iran, was suspended after the State Department launched an investigation over “possible mishandling of classified information.”
The report said that his security clearance was pulled earlier this year and that he was placed “on leave without pay” on Thursday.
“I have been informed that my security clearance is under review,” he said. “I have not been provided any further information, but I expect the investigation to be resolved favorably and soon. In the meantime, I am on leave.”
After the investigation concluded, he was reportedly allowed to stay in his role, but was blocked from accessing classified material.
Sources familiar with that matter told the network that U.S. officials discovered “an issue with Malley’s security clearance” during the investigation.
Malley, whose anti-Israel, pro-Iranian perspective has colored his career, came under fire late last year over his tepid response as Iranian protesters target the despotic, theocratic Iranian government.

'Top secret' government documents have revealed that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau invited China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) to send its troops to Ontario for cold weather training and was unhappy when it was canceled, according to two Canadian media outlets.
The Canadian government's bombshell secret 34-page file was obtained by Rebel News and The Globe and Mail.
The two outlets published excerpts from the files Wednesday, revealing that members of the PLA were scheduled to attend a military exercise at a base in Ontario in 2019.
According to the memos, the training was then canceled by Chief of Defense Staff Jonathan Vance due to concerns that China could use the trip to obtain information from Canada.
But Trudeau was displeased about the cancelation, because he thought it would look like retaliation over China's detention of two Canadian nationals, and insisted Chinese officials be let down gently, the memos show.
Ezra Levant, founder of conservative news site Rebel News, claimed Thursday the PLA was sending spies not just soldiers to Canada through the partnership.
The plans for the joint military exercise came as tensions were boiling between the two nations, months after Canada arrested Huawei executive Meng Wanzou and China hit back arresting Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig.
The release of the files comes on the two-year anniversary of Spavor and Kovrig's arrests as the two remain behind bars in Beijing.

The latest iteration of the U.S. military’s Ridge Runner drills include Russian SAMs and apparent enemy suicide drone launch teams.
SSpecial operators and other personnel from across the U.S. military recently concluded an exercise focused heavily on preparing them to conduct guerrilla warfare and other tasks deep behind enemy lines. Some of the scenarios featured what looked to be a mock Russian S-300 or S-400 surface-to-air missile system and what might be stand-ins for kamikaze drones, pointing to direct influences from the fighting that is happening right now in Ukraine.
The exercise in question, Ridge Runner Exercise 23-01, concluded on June 16, according to a release from the West Virginia National Guard. The West Virginia National Guard manages the Ridge Runner training program out of Camp Dawson in the northern end of the state and conducts multiple iterations of the exercise every year.

A massive fire has broken out at the Warner Bros. Studios in Los Angeles County after a transformer reportedly blew, but has since been put out.
A Warner source told the Hollywood Reporter that the fire has been ruled an 'accident.'
One Twitter user claimed to have heard a 'big boom' and that their power 'flickered' before the sky began to fill with eerie smoke. Others claimed to have seen the lights flickering blocks away from the famous studio.
A source told Deadline the studio's power went out and soon after the smoke started to fill the large lot.
The Citizen app claimed an electrical fire had broken out, but the fire department has not released an official cause. No injuries have been reported.

On Friday, Twitter — without notice — suddenly blocked access to the website for anyone who isn’t signed in as a registered user.
Many people were confused about the change, wondering whether it was a glitch or a purposeful move on the part of Twitter, which is under the control of mega-billionaire Elon Musk. Previously, you could search Twitter and view tweets without needing a registered account. But now, visiting any Twitter page displays a log-in prompt instead.
Musk, in a post Friday afternoon, claimed that Twitter took the step to improve performance on the platform after third-party companies were “scraping” data and overloading its systems. “Temporary emergency measure,” he tweeted. “We were getting data pillaged so much that it was degrading service for normal users!”
In another tweet, Musk said, “Several hundred organizations (maybe more) were scraping Twitter data extremely aggressively, to the point where it was affecting the real user experience.” He added, “What should we do to stop that? I’m open to ideas.”
Musk alleged that groups that have been data-scraping Twitter, in violation of its terms and conditions, “dgaf & mask their IPs through proxy servers or through orgs that appear legit. For example, a recent massive scraping operation originating from Oracle IP addresses was just using their servers as a laundromat.” He added, “We absolutely will take legal action against those who stole our data & look forward seeing them in court, which is (optimistically) 2 to 3 years from now.”
Musk hired Linda Yaccarino, formerly NBCU’s top advertising sales exec, as Twitter’s new CEO overseeing business operations, while Musk himself has said he will remain involved in his favorite social network to lead “product design & new technology.” Yaccarino started in the role at Twitter earlier this month, tasked with driving up advertising revenue after a precipitous decline following Musk’s takeover.
After Musk laid off about 80% of Twitter’s employees following the closing of his debt-financed $44 billion acquisition, the service has experienced some technical problems. That included a glitch-prone Twitter Spaces live audio event with Ron DeSantis, who was using the platform to officially announce his 2024 presidential campaign.
Musk claims that Twitter has never been more popular and that the company (which he’s officially renamed X Corp.) has been developing new features at an unprecedented pace. “This platform hit another all-time high in user-seconds last week,” he tweeted Friday.
