I was throwing it as a joke but that's not wrong either. Discord is chaos shapeshifter. He can match whatever animal genes' he's fucking. Make you wonder what other animals he fucked to produce some horrendous creatures. Then again, there's Pinkie.

Re-reading again about Rara and Flut made me thought of something. Isn't it's a pegasi job to wake up the animals from hibernation or I rmemebering Winter Wrap Up wrongly?

Likewise Fluts is from a family of only birdbrains living in birdbrain central.

If anything, families that mix the races seem fairly uncommon in Equestria. None of the main characters have families that do so, other than twilights family who had Shining Armor marry an alicorn, Remember when we see the "apple clan" for example? Dozens and dozens of members of the clan, and not one wing or horn anywhere.

Well, that last part would apply for Pinky if she is not exactly a distant member of the clan, we would need to see the same huge family tree on the others, but then again, is just something I came up with, not exactly a plausible theory.
