Okay.
>a fucking joke is made into reality
Off to a good start.
>pear jam most only come from one source
Seriously, this entire feud premise is so fucking dumb. Are you telling me the Apples and the Pears are the only farms in Ponyville? If there were two, why not more? Why have I never heard of the Pears before if they were big enough to rival the Apples? I mean, what happened to their lands? Bought up by the Apples?
Cliched romance story. All we need is WW2 or the Civil War sprinkled in to make it full.
What is the point of this episode? It does nothing. I don't care about their parents. We got all the info we needed in that episode that ended with AJ looking out to see two shooting stars, whichever one it was. That felt a lot more meaningful than this one.
>gay song
>Butter and Mac selfishly disobey their families wishes
>mayor has them married, and should know of their feud
>she deliberately goes against the wishes of the parents, which could potentially cause even greater distress
>she brings strife to their families
FUCK YOU MOM AND DAD, LOVE IS LOVE: The Episode
I like the parents' designs, though. I will admit, the ~19:48 was somewhat touching ("it's in the past now"), but the "Grandpear" did what he thought was best for the entire Pear Family (it shows there are more members). But I guess they just up an' forgot 'bout them. Gay.
Most of this episode just felt icky. Anyway, so now I'm curious as to how they died. Originally that wasn't necessary, and there was room for headcanon. Now we don't have that. They most likely died by some road accident or something (to be fair, even without this episode we can figure they would have been farmers and died in an accident). Also, they're probably "just missing" and the Mane Six will find them. Anyway.
One thing I noticed when re-watching it for your sake---Vanhoover is said to have plenty of land, meaning it's likely a relatively new town, meaning they are exploring West. And maybe some fast tech development.
But I bet they'll somehow forget that little detail, because they didn't put much thought into it when writing it down.
