I was bored so I made this. I was interested in how well out the show's popularity has been doing overtime.

I am comparing the two search terms "mlp" and "my little pony" for a reason. I would think a less familiar person would search "my little pony" (newfags) and a more familiar person would just search "mlp". You notice more searches for "mlp" in comparison to "my little pony" later on ("my little pony" peaks in Dec. 2013 while "mlp" peaks in Apr. 2015). You also notice a large spike in the present, this is most likely the movie.

What are your thoughts on this timeline graph and what do you think about the future or past?

Damn, the Season Five hiatus just started a tailspin. No wonder all the old show creators started jumping ship about then. Another interesting thing about this is that it appears that Equestria Girls generated the last big boost in public interest up until this new movie came out. With the spike at the very beginning of Season Four, it looks like the Monsters Inc. rip-off actually brought a bunch of newfags to the show. That explains so much about /mlp/.

S7 has also had one interesting thing to note. Its the first season since S3 where interest overall has risen during the season instead of dropped after an early spike.

Maybe, but even ignoring the spike at the end it looks like it started going upwards early on in season 7 (even if it is very slight).

And what effect do you think the movie will have on interest going into season 8? Do you think it will have a lasting effect or do you think it is a one time spike that will drop down next month?

I imagine that is because nobody expected Season Seven to actually be good. Apart from some weak episodes in the second half, it is probably the first season to outperform expectations since Season One.
