Anyone else bothered by how retarded this episode was?

I thought the boss was suppose to order you around, not the employee.

Is the writer living in bizarro world?

There's no dedicated writer, just handouts that get switched also a more experienced employee bossing a less experienced manager in her new business doesn't seem too far off but how they handled it was poor.

Dealing with a new employee that doesn't quite understand the business model and fucks things up as a result is quite a relatable problem for business types. I'm not sure why they thought it would be relatable for little girls, but the problem at the core of the episode is at least not totally retarded.

Anon, she ordered her own boss around. What the fuck, man. That's not common, that's already surreal.

Rarity hired someone to run her business, not only did she run it but she made it more successful than Rarity could possibly have imagined.

In fact it wasn't until Rarity realized that exercising her art and expression was more important to her than success that she talked to her employee, who changed directions.

I can't believe I'm saying this unironically, but she did nothing wrong.

Kind of funny that rarity is way nicer than fluttershy

A few Rarity episodes are like that. "Suited For Success" was all about dealing with difficult customers, and "Sweet and Elite" was about remembering your roots--two things that little kids are not likely to have any experience with.

>>293914

Yeah, Sassy's business model worked. Commercially, her way was the right way. It is difficult for a boss to argue with black ink.

Right? Fluttershy just straight-up canned them. She always has been cold-blooded, though.

she did re-iterate VERY VERY CLEARLY what her ideas were, several times, and all three of them were just like "lol no she's cray cray".

and hey, this actually shows some much-needed continuity in the sense that FLUTTERSHY ACTUALLY DIDN'T BEND OVER BACKWARDS TO A SIMPLE DISAGREEMENT FOR ONCE.

I can't tell you how many times she's re-learned this exact same lesson.

Look again at the picture in the post that you are replying to. That is not such a new thing.

DYEWTS?

The only reason there was any problems in the episode, was because Fluttershy was too much of a chickenshit to actually explain what she wanted, resulting in contractors guessing at how they where supposed to do it.

This is what happens when you had a construction crew a crude crayon drawing a five year old made of a house and tell them to build it.

I've bossed my boss around, before. It's not common except in larger companies where middle-management exists, but I've seen it plenty of times. Nothing unusual there.

>>293927

contractors & employees are completely different things. One of them is a human (pony) you know and want to maintain your respect for, the other is a drunken lardass who carries power tools around because it makes him feel worthy of your admiration and money, rather than, you know, actually working

No, wait both forms of both relationships exist. Still, I maintain

I doubt that it was intentional, but Rarity has become the character that the kids' parents relate to. She has guy trouble. She cares for a destructive child. She handles business relationships. She tries to walk a line between what is best for her career and what the people that she cares about want from her. I can imagine that the writers themselves relate to her, which is probably why her episodes tend to better than most. It is easy to write about a situation that you have personally experienced.

>>293927

Fluttershy seems to have no sense of proportion. She can't tell the difference between making herself heard and dominating another person, so she avoids what is to her a murky gray area in social behavior completely. Telling a cutter to go to the back of the line is not discernably different to her than dropping a bowl of punch onto her friend for making a joke. Folks have long talked shit about Merriweather Williams, but I think that she did the definative character study of Fluttershy in "Putting Your Hoof Down."
