Articles state that the mother is a pro-aboriginal activist They have already raised tons of money and are going viral.
Found a video from 2015 of parent again trying to make a viral sympathy video, which doesn't seem to add up, because the kid just looks like a normal kid and there is no reason people would be starring at him.

Pretty much all international activist groups are a scam. If you're going to donate money to a cause, do so for a local one. It doesn't necessarily need to be for one in your own country but really, just avoid any groups either groups that operate in multiple countries or groups that operate to and from a foreign country. I can most certainly bet that there are people on the board that still unironically give money to organisations such as the MSF because "it's easier" than putting in the effort to find a local one.
