Green Energy Transition Crumbles As De-funding Oil Industry Forces Coal Use Surge

There's no question that the 'greenification' of the global economy has returned many industrial countries to coal in 2021. New data from the International Energy Agency (IEA) shows that the amount of electricity generated worldwide from coal is on track to hit a record high.

IEA's Coal 2021 report says global power generation from coal soared 9% in 2021 to an all-time high of 10,350 terawatt-hours. The rebound comes amid a rash of green policies and stupid political choices, such as decommissioning oil and gas-fired power plants and fossil fuel exploitation projects, ironically resulting in an energy crisis worldwide.

The rebound is being driven by a saved economy thanks to the courts blocking nationwide vaccine mandates, "which has pushed up electricity demand much faster than low-carbon supplies can keep up," IEA said. Also, the dramatic rise in natural gas prices forced power plants to source coal as a cheaper alternative.

Overall coal demand, including energy-intensive industries such as cement and steel, is expected to increase 6% this year. Though it shouldn't surpass the record consumption levels of 2013/2014, IEA said. It added coal demand could hit a new record high in 2022. LOL.

EA Executive Director Fatih Birol said the increase was "a worrying sign of how far off track the world is in its efforts to put emissions into decline towards net zero."

The IEA said that China is responsible for half of the coal-fired power generation worldwide and will increase by 9% year-on-year increase.

We've discussed in-depth the transformation taking place in the energy sector where the recent ESG mania has deprived legacy fossil-fuel companies of much-needed capital (not just growth CAPEX but also maintenance), which has instead flown to "virtue-signaling" green projects that have been unreliable power sources.

The biggest irony is that we're in a world deprived of fossil fuels where a green energy transition is not feasible in this decade. It'll take about $100 to $150 trillion to complete the green energy transition over the next three decades. The problem? This kind of debt spending spree would cause hyperinflation and commodity prices would become unaffordable for citizens.

this will be the next nwo overreach

" environmental legislation" and the control of all resources, including food and water; which are the two most important

its all by design. lets look at florida; which has only been settled in any real population numbers in the last 50 years

its already the most heavily populated state in the ( still under federal occupation) south

the northeast had the most abundant resources of anywhere. wth happened?

its an industrial wasteland now and a " sanctuary" zone for every specie of invasive on the planet.

we have millions of jew york/jewsey slave cattle pouring into the south in the millions everyday and like the stupid slave cattle they are they break and shit on everything

Im at the point in my life now, after watching my beloved cheasapeake bay ( north americas largest estuary) destroyed by this same slave cattle that its getting called out by me.

whats wrong is wrong and I will stand alone, if I have to and still call it out and fight if it comes to that.

you jew york niggers arent wrecking my resources and getting off easy anymore

I just wanted to be left alone. You niggers couldnt help yourselves.

This country is pretty much fucked if we can't turn things around, like I always forewarned the end will be SHTF, economic collapse and war.

Yah, it's called communism and it happened under the USSR and many other failed States too. Hopefully we won't let it get that bad but who knows? Prepare for the worst, it won't hurt.

As the world seeks to phase down use of coal, China’s biggest coal-fired power plant has just finished construction and entered operation on Dec. 28.

The Shanghaimiao plant, located in the country’s top coal-producing region of Inner Mongolia, said on Tuesday that its first of four 1,000-megawatt units was online after passing a 168 hour period of trials.

The plant will supply power to China’s eastern coastal Shandong Province.

The thermal power plant is operated by the Guodian Power Shanghaimiao Corporation, a subsidiary of the centrally-owned China Energy Investment Corporation.

China, where coal-fired plants generate more than two-thirds of its electricity, pledged to reduce its reliance on coal as part of global efforts to 'tackle climate change' (control resources), but to do so only after 2025.

The power crunch engulfing the country this year has disrupted the daily lives of tens of millions of people, crippled industrial output, and wreaked havoc on global supply chains. As a result, the authorities ordered the mining and burning of more coal to stave off a prolonged energy crisis over the winter.

Everything is fine as long as we face facts that literally 90% of our energy consumption relies on fossil fuel and it is foolish to think we can dramatically reduce it without destroying our economies and way of life. :)

That said, I'm not against "green energy" or alternative energy, I have solar panels myself, it's just fucking expensive to purchase those, you need tons of expensive deep cycle 12V batteries to run them and what? You have to ration energy use to about 3000w. It's not bad to have as a BACKUP system for emergency use, but it's not easily affordable for most people and will only power a select amount of utilities at a time, not the whole home.
