JFK was head nogged by a guy who hated him and that's where the story ends, the government just didn't want it to be known how easy it was to no-scope the president because this isn't 1860 anymore and sniper rifles are a thing so it was masked as some super duper secret conspiracy.
The reality is the government just doesn't want random people trying to snipe the sitting President and I agree with them, there's nothing to gain from it because we can just vote them out in 4 years anyways and all you do is turn them into martyrs like JFK and Lincoln are now. Logically, a lone shooter never made sense.
If you think instead that there was a conspiracy, then the only logical conclusion is that the result was a successful coup:
1. Say it's a conspiracy.
2. If conspiracy failed, we'd have seen a bunch of people punished.
3. If conspiracy succeeded, you'd see minimization of punishment to absolute minimum number of people.
Point 3 is consistent with what happened.
So *IF* it was a conspiracy, it was a successful one. But was it a coup?
Well, whoever had him killed did not want him to lead. They wanted someone else to lead. The violent removal and replacement of a leader is a coup. Therefore, if it was a conspiracy, then it was also a coup.
But was it a conspiracy?
