So Russia is trying to hide their own demise via spewing propaganda how "great" Russia is when it is not all that stable? It would make sense I guess, but what's the purpose in doing so? Does their government want an influx of refugees to flood into Russia with a false hope of that country actually being any better from where they flee and how would that make their country any more stable? It seems to me this propaganda campaign might be aimed directly at their own citizenry to keep them docile, but in doing so also warps the perspectives of Russia from abroad too.

Same reason Russian-Israeli oligarchs own both sides of the Ukraine/Russia conflict, same reason Iran and Israel are meant to be such big enemies yet both Israel and Iran are allying with China (and Russia), same reason RT (and Iran's PressTV) attempts to appeal to both the far left and far right all the time, and every week has another article about how the latest news from America spells the final collapse of the US.
Firstly, because it's largely all just theatre, and they want to use Russia (and China, if you hadn't noticed on the chans and twitter) to appeal to the increasingly far left/right younger generations in the event that the US collapses and far left/right insurrectionist cells rise up. Just like how Israel helps arm Azov Battalion while Aleksandr Dugin's oligarch friend Malofeev finances pro-Russian forces, just like how Russian oligarchs left that ship of material in the Beirut port (ostensibly for Hezbollah) which Israel just blew up.
I mean you can already see it happening in the US at a certain level, with the controlled 'Alt-Right' movement which claims to be about US nationalism and white people, yet everyone from David Duke and Richard Spencer, to Lauren Southern, Alex Jones etc. gave Dugin a platform, if not directly supported him, yet never once brought up his constant virulent anti-White or anti-American rhetoric, or his book 'Foundations of Geopolitics' which explicitly talks about Russia supporting both white and black racialists to stir up civil war in the US (among many other things that have come to pass…)
Not to mention that all these people seemed to either fade away or cuck out as soon as Trump got elected, who himself is tied to Russian-Israeli oligarchy/mafia.
Even Alex Jones who for months was going on and on about 'muh Chi-coms' NEVER once mentioned how Israel is going *against* America's direct demands and allying with China. Instead he tells his audience (quote) "they're not out enemies, leave Israel alone".
But secondly, and fundamentally, it's all about pics and quotes related - just look up how many times Israeli media has been talking about pivoting to a 'Euro-Asian' trading bloc these last few years.
