First time posting here! (So if I got the wrong board, please do correct me)

I have some sort of dream for my future self.

I want to live for a long period of time (4-6 years) in a private cabin built by myself, noting that it should hold at least 4 people (Wife and 3 kids, maybe 5) all the while being excluded enough in nature so that you can hunt and for my kids to grow up far from the destructive force that is mass media/technology.

I know far eastern Russia is a good candidate since it has vast secluded places, but I made this post to see your opinions on location and if it is actually possible to do.

(Obviously me and my wife would have extensive education and practice on guns, medicine, farming and hunting.)

i wanted to do that too

but doing such a thing without God in your heart will bring you all into depression at best

pretty often people take their wifes into forest and then they cry about not being able to meet their friends and other crap

you need to be a strong man

Orthodox Christianity is the way

God bless!

hope you will do it

i have a some properties near my capital city

when i finish prepare myself better i will probably do it

all i need is my wife and a church less than 100km away from my cabin

Dear /out/doorsman, should you or others visit again with these interests, you'll want to familiarize yourself with the "Russian Homestead Act" passed last year.

Here's a well-written but predictably negative piece featuring an early settler from the New York Times.

I don't have much outdoors experience, but I know there is still a lot of opportunity for freer living closer to the US. I remember reading about an American who moved into a cabin near the Manicouagan Reservoir in Quebec for at least a decade.
