Well I'm just going to go under the premise that the car had some body damage, and therefore had to be painted in order to cover up the bondo.
If this guy actually painted a perfectly good DeLorian, I hope absolutely awful things happen to him.
If he actually saved one, then good for him. I kind of like the DeLorian in red. That said, I'd never do it unless it was one that needed serious body work and paint was the only way to cover it up. I like the way they look with the stock stainless steel body, though. Were those taillights one off, or is there somewhere you can buy those? I've never seen custom DeLorian taillights.

If the kids love it, go for it.
I know someone who could no longer pass car inspection due to rust. Instead of scrapping the car, she just removed the battery and told kids to go wild with it. That car still stands on its own wheels in a backyard corner. It could be startable, it drove there itself there. Kids play in it for 3 years now, and they still love it. Interior is absoloutely thrashed and reminds more of playground's sandpit, the bootlid is not completely closable, and there are multiple balls and potatoes in exaust. The car is Opel Astra F baby-sized hatchback.
Kids agree that they could not get a better toy. After all, what gets more "real car-like" than a real car?

fuck off m8, plastic bumpers may look ugly, but they absorbed impacts much better than solid metal ones, scuffs came off if you just rubbed your dry hand on it a few times, and were a hell of a lot cheaper to replace. There's a reason most commercial vehicles produced today still use 'em, and that's because they're more of a convenience for someone who needs to drive great distances without that much care.
