I started nofap around September last year, and until late December my streaks were only getting up to seven days. Currently I've made it around 58 days without porn and 35 days without masturbating (I was on acid, long story).
The trick to this whole thing is realising there is no trick, I can't give you anything to repeat in your head nor would I want to.
Understand that you are a drug addict with addict thoughts. The ancient reward circuit of your brain, the part that used dopamine to motivate your ancestors to eat, hunt and fuck has been hijacked by high speed internet porn, it's just as smart as you are and will try as hard as possible to get you to get a dopamine hit. If you haven't already, understand what has happened to your brain. https://www.yourbrainonporn.com/miscellaneous-resources/start-here-evolution-has-not-prepared-your-brain-for-todays-porn/
The image I've posted goes into detail about fetishes and is also a good read, a bit of /pol/ tier shit in there but just ignore it I guess.
This whole rebooting process being hard is the point, the old part of your brain is a dopamine addicted mess and the withdrawal symptoms are your inner drug addict yelling. You're going to have sleepless nights where the only thing on your mind will be relapsing and it will take all of your strength to not give in.
Also, stop edging and looking at porn, it's just reinforcing the circuits and making your blueballs even worse, but you already knew this. If you do this, count it as a relapse.
Having said that, there are some things that you can do to make this process easier. Keep in mind that these are just things that helped me, and all brains are different
First, understand the stages of relapse. It's a gradual process and it doesn't just happen at once. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmjjxdDwOIc
Then, take care of yourself, you're getting an alternative to sitting at home masturbating so you should make it your very existence better than porn. Get out of the house, play sport, burn off some of the excess energy you have now. I'd recommend reading No More Mr Nice Guy by Dr Robert Glover, Models by Mark Manson and Digital Minimalism by Cal Newport for this.
Personally, a big thing that reduced my urges is having a good diet, Just like porn, a high processed calorie diet isn't natural either. Learn to cook and make your own decisions about your food. Great Youtube channel is Basics with Babish.
Finally, start tracking your process using a spreadsheet or something so you can start counting your one day streaks. Any day without porn is a good one and you'll notice that your overall consumption has dropped.
>tl;dr
Your brain is expecting a large amount of dopamine and now it's not getting it. It's going to try a whole bunch of sneaky tricks to trip you up, but it will get easier as you push through, trust me. There's going to be points where you fuck up, and that's okay.
Always remember - You can never look at porn ever again.
I wish you the best of luck.
