I thought SoMB was disappointing. They were really good from SMRC to Drought, and they were writing music that nobody else was. But the whole idea of being new and interesting like that sort of fades when you make another release years later that just sounds like a rehash, at a time now when a lot of bands try to rip them off. They should have done what Portal did with Ion. Apparently they had another album written after Vexovoid that sounded similar to the rest of their stuff, but they realized it had gotten to the point where other bands sounded like them, so they threw out a fully recorded album and started from scratch with the idea of reinventing their sound.
