If Aliens came to Earth and you for some reason had to compile a comprehensive history of the rock genre from its folk roots to post-modern times, would it be safe to say you could probably just stop at album related and everything after is mostly just shit that can be disregarded as derivative and not worth mentioning? Not to be one of those faggots who say modern music is bad, but just not important or noteworthy

 No.96369

if you arbitrarily limit yourself to only rock, sure

Heh. I always hear people saying Oasis sounds like The Beatles, including Paul McCartney himself iirc but I never heard it. I guess lyrically it's similar but Oasis always had more of a more modern distant sound to me and the Gallagher's sound nothing like Lennon-McCartney. Maybe Lennon's more nasally voice but Lennon was able to hide his douchy British accent and he was able to give himself a more rough blues-esque sound

Important by what metric? If you want to shove your personal opinions into how you document stuff, fine, but if those aliens want an accurate representation of how the genre and people's perception of it changed, you wouldn't be doing a good job.

What killed 4chan /mu/ was its own popularity and Eternal September. Do you seriously think a couple of joke posts are going to make this board a shitty place to be?
