What the fuck are those idiots trying to milk with this?

 No.95890

I can already tell how cringeworthy and terrible this is without even listening to it. Fucking hell. As if their last thing wasn't bad enough.

 No.95894

Wow, look at that art! These guys are really down with the "kids!"

 No.95902

>do the same shit

<why bother

>try something new

Yeah, because 80's nostalgia bait is truly original

They are literally trying to ride the bandwagon of something that got hyped 4 years ago and is currently oversaturated with every nerd trying to do the same. The folks in the genre will probably disregard them because of this oversaturation, and they won't be able to get any new fans with this stunt. Ye they're trying to do something they haven't done before themselves, but holy fuck at least be original.

Vaporwave is what all the hip kids are jamming to on the spotify and youtubes. So it's what boomer approved mass market pseudo art rock bands need to co-opt in order to look cool.

 No.96039

I never thought Muse would pull a How Do You Do, Fellow Kids kind of move.

cringe

Synthwave is some of the only newer music I listen to nowadays, but I'm getting really tired of all this neon imagery. The '80s were nothing like that at all outside of stuff like Blade Runner and Tron.

 No.96067

>>96034

Funnily enough, I would guess vaporwave is the least profitable genre to exploit. Also synthwave and vaporwave doesn't have much in common except the shallow neon assdickdicks

welp, this is bad

They try to appeal to the kiddos

 No.96071

It's "wave" for a reason, anon. Unless you also don't know what the french "new wave" was all about.

 No.96073

>>96071

I've never seen any of those French New Wave directors and frankly don't get your point. I'd just prefer something that wasn't a sensationalized cartoon version of actual '80s aesthetics.

nice strawman, bug

Dude, this movement you like is a fusion of what was then considered futurist and the now resulting in this 80's filtered cyberpunk-ish look. Using this imagery rather than the one inspired by the Memphis Group like geometric shapes, really bright colors and graphic patterns was never a part of its identity. The fact that you don't know this means you got into it through the music much like the rest of us. So in the end, who really gives a shit about imagery? The music is more important and Muse's music is shit. Album sounds like their Showbiz release with some of their later evolution but now with gated reverb.

To their credit, I still don't know if they're jumping on the synthwave bandwagon because the damn thing sounds unmistakably Muse.

 No.96149

Part of it is just how oversaturated the style has become. I remember going to the gas station a while back and seeing some kind of drink can with artwork similar to what synthwave acts are using.

The music might be a higher priority, but imagery is still important in how you perceive the music. Imagine a hissy old four-track black metal release with colorful Boris Vallejo artwork instead of homemade monochrome artwork or high-contrast black and white photos. It wouldn't fit the feeling of the music at all.

That's not the case here, though. I'm just getting bored with the usual look.

Speaking of idiots being milked, Pale Waves' album is pretty lackluster. I bet it's a hit with the teens though.
