No one is going to mention that last month Floral Shoppe basically died?

Diana Ross' (((label))) finally found out after 7 years that this album exists and the anthem of vaporwave is basically a chopped & screwed version of her song.

So they took action and took it down from everywhere, including every instance of the song Lisa Frank 420 / Modern Computing on JewTube and every place where the album was uploaded on Bandcamp.

This probably means that the price of the physical copies will skyrocket since Floral Shoppe was basically wiped out of existence along with the hopes that this album would be ever released again on physical format. https://www.discogs.com/Macintosh-Plus-Floral-Shoppe/master/461722 oy vey

I don't understand the logic behind this though, no one ever bought the limited edition vinyl for a fuckton of money thinking to themselves

>Muhaha now I can speed this record up and reassemble the second track so I can listen to my favourite artist Diana Ross!

No one ever listened to this album because of Diana Ross, rather the other way around, this album is the reason Diana Ross' song became relevant again after 30 years, and I'm sure it boosted up the sales of her music at least a tiny bit.

Nigga the album was influential, I don't like it either, but you can't deny it. Why must y'all reject every thread like we're not supposed to discuss music. I'd say it's still a shame for this record.

Also, Vektroid's not even a soyboy but a full blown tranny.

I personally never cared for Floral Shoppe because of its meme status. But to me vaporware was basically cyberpunk as a music genre. A flawed neon world where everyone is expected to revel in post-cold war enthusiasm but the dark soulless consumerist undertones are too transparent to ignore. Even back in the 80s and 90s there was a sense of uneasiness beneath the prospect of the coming millennium. Wither that was fears of a computer glitch setting nukes off in 2000 or just a general fear of the direction of where the world was headed. That was before post-modern cynicism set in and people stopped giving a fuck altogether

 No.93682

>>93681

Also sage because I'm samefagging

What I think killed vaporwave is a multitude of reasons

1.) Cyberpunk is not a genre anybody actually ever wanted to listen too save for some rare gems. Most of it is supposed to parody 80s/90s One Hit Wonder background music you hear in supermarkets. That's kind of the entire point.

2.) Jews hijacked the "aesthetic" while completely missing the point

3.) This one might be more controversial, but I think current Trump-era enthusiasm also helped kill off cyberpunk, current market bull runs, record low unemployment, and Trump himself driving the politicization of youth (which I think is a good thing because it shows kids that instead of being angsty anarchists you can just play politics itself and still be a selfish prick who gets what they want). Cyberpunk was the peak of post-modern cynicism. I know this point is controversial because foresight can be a bitch sometimes, but I think current-era enthusiasm still mirrors 80s Reagan-era post cold war enthusiasm. There's still dark undertones underneath it all.

 No.93684

>>93679

vaporwave is literally just the same principle as nightcore taken in a different direction at this point

i have no problem with changing the tempo of a song and enjoying it separately from the original but calling it a whole new genre or corrupting an already existing genre with it is dumb as shit

 No.93685

>>93682

Like tears in the rain.

Cyberpunk was never really meant to be a musical movement, the themes of what it means to be human when technology advances beyond anything we've ever seen can't fully be conveyed in musical form, or to say, hasn't been conveyed yet in a convincing manor. Shit, it's only ever been done right a few times in anything full stop. Just look at all the shit that claims to be cyberpunk and it's just "dude transhumanism lmao" which feeds into the kike hijacking and missing the point.

I'm at least somewhat glad it's dead because the future is bright, even if there's some road blocks on the way as the kikes try every last thing to stop us.

Not to mention that most vaporwave releases were just low effort productions hopping on the meme bandwagon. Floral Shop sucks and it deserved to be trashed. Diana Ross (((label))) has every right to nuke the album.

He's spent too much time surrounded by boomers on imkampfy's /pol/, who are old enough to remember Reagan in person and think he was the second coming of christ. I don;t give a shit about /pol/. My perspective comes from the current state of the economy in general. "Trump-era" being shorthand for the current era of American politics dominated by Trumps current economic and foreign policy

> Between AI wank, a rising Chyna, Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg building fiefdoms, and the twin rising trends of technology and instability, the world's never been more cyberpunk. The old facades are just still in place.

While that may be true, it's also entirely besides the point I was trying to make. We didn't call Reaganomics era like it was until it was in retrospective. The point is we're past the level of post-modern cynicism that drove shit like cyberpunk a couple of years ago. Why do I even bother? I knew I was making a controversial statement but I think I failed from having a false pretense people here would be actual adults with regards to have an actual discussion and no "muh /pol/!"

>Muh employment

What about the coming push for automation which is rumored to cause a major unemployment crisis in the next few years?

>Politicization of youth

IE growing political polarization

Let's also add to that growing ethnic tensions (and Trump's inability to do anything about it so far), giant tech companies growing more and more powerful and always being involved into shady shit, normalfags being increasingly addicted to smartphones and social media, NSA surveillance entering a golden age, mass media being owned by few broadcasting corporations with similar interests and agenda and other things i surely must have forgotten

Listen, i'm not trying to change your opinion on Trump himself, i'm just saying if you feel "enthusiasm" about the direction the world is taking because your president is lowering your taxes you're either retarded or you don't check out the news often enough

Also, I know this isn't a sharethread but since this is about a specific artist's work no longer being available, I do have 19 of her other albums and three other collab things she did with a couple side projects, all in WAV as well along with some SoundCloud exclusives. However, I'm missing Geese, Hello1&2, Capitose Windowpane, 札幌コンテンポラリー, ClearSkies: Complete Edition, Home: Complete Edition and Initiation Tape: Isle of Avalon Edition since these were nuked off her BC along with Floral Shoppe before I could get to them all, and the likelihood of her answering my email from over two months ago asking if she'd ever consider putting them up somewhere again is slim to none, so if anyone has those missing albums (preferably as WAV's with the album art but at this point, I'll take whatever I can get), then that would be awesome.

I would say the original incarnation of vaporwave is dead if that makes any sense. Vaporwave has gone from just chopping, screwing and slowing down shitty pop songs to straight up New Age ambient style albums, trap music, etc. With albums like Birth of a New Day by 2814, Classroom Sexxtape by Death's Dynamic Shroud, and Overgrowth by Oscob and Digital Sex, etc. I think it's very interesting how the genre has evolved and changed since the release of Eccojams, FS, and the other classics. Not to mention that labels like Dream Catalogue, Bludhoney and Orange Milk still pump out albums on the regular of varying genres.
