You only listened to the boring albums.
>listen to effigy of the forgotten, it's KILLER
No, it's boring, The only reason anyone remembers it is because of that brainlet riff in liege of inveracity. And don't even get me started on habitual infamy, makes me want to puke.
>b-but i-it's a classic!
How? I admit it was a slight advancement in sound, and the musicianship is of more than average quality, but now it's nothing special.
>but what about morbid angel? You've got to like that, right?
Nope. Alters of madness was the only passable album from that group, which has always wallowed in mediocrity. It's hard to believe anyone took them seriously as a music group, considering the low quality of their output. They make a snoozefest like immolation look good in comparison.
>come on, everyone likes death. Their initial release wasn't spectacular, but human and symbolic are classics!
Admit it, you only listen to death because you feel a need to validate your "metal authenticity." Human and symbolic are classics, and probably some of the best boring death metal out there. And yes, I do very much enjoy Death, but I recognize their faults, their main one being BORING. I have fallen asleep listening to scream bloody gore, and I have more than once missed the second half of leprosy because I got distracted with the newspaper sudoku.
The only semi-palatable death metal is the type that is more akin to thrash, like Incubus or Xenomorph, than the typical "death metal" sound, such as featured in Morbid Angel's latest release, or any of the countless forgettable imitator groups. In addition, I have only chosen immediately recognizable bands in my post so that even a shallow poseur such as yourself may have a somewhat decent understanding of what I am attempting to convey, that being you listen to garbage music. As for my opinions, I hold Beyond the Unknown as the premier example of non-boring old school death metal. Death's releases come next, but they are too boring to listen to daily, while I regularly drop Serpent Temptations or 7 Churches in for a spin.
