Why are you still listening to obsolete dinosaur music, /mu/?

>music purely based on logic and the machine learning of other people's music

Nah, I like hearing music that's creative in some way. I'm not surprised that this would be a shitty generic pop song.

This music honestly isn't very good. It so unbelievably generic that it doesn't shock me a machine wrote it.

How does that have anything to do with what I said? How is counting with your fingers vs using a calculator anything to do with creativity vs genericism?

Creativity is where aesthetics meet craftsmanship. A machine can learn aesthetics and master any craftsmanship closer to perfection than a human could.

>creativity is where aesthetics meet craftsmanship

Real poetic definition (which I disagree with, since creativity relates to making new and different things and that isn't implied in your definition), but do you think it's more creative for a piece of software to analyze a bunch of music, find patterns in it and then spit out something that follows all of those patterns, or for a person to experiment with structure and use weird notes and time signatures and things and make something nobody's heard anything like before?

After some reflection, maybe it would be more accurate to say that art is where creativity, aesthetics and craftsmanship meet.

The machine will be more efficient at producing songs that live up to a certain standard. If I had to think of an aspect where humans had the upper hand, then it would be the fact that humans can add intentional oddities, references to other art which the computer doesn't "get" or just plain old imperfections that we might perceive as "having soul". As a consequence, a human composition can either not live up to the standard set by the machine but it can on the other hand also suprass it.
