Plot:
The world is divided into many small territories, rather than nations. Each is ruled by a warlord and is in constant competition with it's neighbors. War is a simple reality for life in the nameless continent. At first, the fighting was over land, resources and petty squables… however with the creation of the "Armory of Lords". A number of weapons created by an unknown smith who's craft mark is an engraved cross. These magical weapons changed the face of the war as it was known. Their power seduced the many fledgling territories, creating a war that would nearly never end, as each battle was a chance to kill an enemy's champion and claim their weapon for their side. Constant strife from war continued for years and years…
At this time the war has no end in sight. The weapon's themselves continue to stoke the flames of war and the land remains heavily divided. There are no large states, provinces or countries. There is only war.
Our main character can start the adventure as a number of possibilities. All will be established with a vote. Every person has 2 points to spread among what they would like to see for any options they happen to enjoy. The setting itself is medieval, and beyond magic devices the technology is around the same. most places architecture is around the quality of rome, if not the same design. The goal of the story is to gather the Bewitching Armoury.
The first vote is to select an archtype. This is more or less a character class that describes what the character is capable of, in addition to their backround and why they are after the weapons to begin with. This goal may change throughout the story, depending upon your actions.
Ronin:
A warrior with no home, no family and no honour. A ronin is branded as a failure and exiled from their home, no longer possessing a family name. Some great dishonour, either just or unjustly placed upon them is the reasoning. The Ronin wishes to gather the armaments to either regain their honour, or take revenge. A ronin has their sword taken from them, said to house their soul. As such they are often called “soulless ones”. Usually Ronin start to use other weapons as weilding a sword often brings them great pain.
Disciple:
Disciples are few in number, mortals with supernatural strength and/or agility. Through ancient rites, rituals and inking their bodies are hard as steel, mind sharper than the best blade and as lithe as the most skilled cortisean. Fighting with fist, leg tooth and claw they carve through battlefields as an unstoppable flurry of death and destruction. Disciples rarely align with any warlord other than “The Master”. However our main character is not aligned with any one nation as a Disciple, instead is a fugitive from “The Master’s” tyranny. He believes that the reliance on these magic weapons taints the ancient arts and offends the ancestors. As such the goal is to destroy them… all of them and crush the master under their heel after showing his weakness.
Wandering Monk:
Monks traditionally deal with ghosts and spirits troubling villages and towns, this is doubly true for the wandering monk. Depending on the type, a monk can raise the dead to fight for them as zombies or skeletons by asking their ancestors for help, enhance or heal others, cast destructive magic by using implements or making potions and poultice using alchemy. All monk magic uses talismans, these strips of cloth have symbols written on them via a brush and are stuck to anything the monk wants to enhance or affect. A wandering monk is one disillusioned with their order and has left in a self imposed exile. Now using their arts they desire to bring peace to the land by sealing the weapon’s power and speaking with the various warlords.
No U:
I would like a new set of options to vote on.
"The No U has a deep and significant cultural background[…] and that is the story."
Voting will last until saturday noon, EST. Feel free to ask and questions about the setting or anything in general. I'll try to answer when I can. But remember to sage as I'm fairly certain this counts as a CYOA thread.
