Hi /lit/. Occasional lurker here. Within the past couple years I have amassed a pretty reasonable physical library, which is good! However I am now left with cluttered stacks and disorganized bookshelves. So now I come here requesting help, how do you organize and catalogue your library whether it be digital or material?

Chronological-ish. Greek, then Rome, then Middle Ages, which dissolves into authors by region as well,.

14. Stop drifting. You're not going to re-read your Brief Comments, your Deeds of the Ancient Greeks and Romans, the commonplace books you saved for your old age. Sprint for the finish. Write off your hopes, and if your well-being matters to you, be your own savior while you can.

i have a couple of bookcases to contain the books i read, and i can't say there is a very rigorous order. some are organized by size, to save space, some other shelves are ordered thematically.

the ones i hadn't read yet, the vast majority are divided in other bookcases or various pieces of furniture.

i find it both fun and unnerving browsing them trying to decide what to read next.

I like this idea, thanks.

Checked but not helpful in this case.

This is kind of my current situation except I ran out of shelves. I didn't have many to begin with though.

yeah, i know, in fact now i make do with those kind of plastic boxes with wheels underneath and i slide them from under my bed when i want to read one of the books they contain.

doing my weekly cleaning is becoming quite a problem.

Give up and replace all low quality editions with electronic copies.

 No.12758

I sort my books by how many times I've read them. Never-read goes on the bottom shelf, and the top shelf is reserved for books I come back to over and over again. They are then organized on the shelf in alphabetical order. I also have fiction and non-fiction on different bookcases.

 No.12772

I get rid of a book once it dawns on me that I'll never read it again. Sad!
