 No.12162[Watch Thread][Show All Posts]

Hello, /lit/. I seek some help in finding a good site to post my web fiction. As I'm building a buffer to prepare to post on a schedule and pick out a pen name, I'm curious as to what sites would give me a good chance at high visibility and has a liking for the surreal if possible.

Hard mode, I'm doing original fiction, not fan fiction shit.

It doesn't hurt to ask if you already looked, but have at the link under the board FAQ "so you want to be a writer" then "how do I find my readers" in the next section. You'll find a few suggestions there along with some off tangent blather.

The more you can tell us about your fiction, and about your writing skill level, the better. Even if you're pushing just some sexy exploration of fan-shlick-fiction. There is an astonishing variety of niche sites catering to specific genera, yet the final arbitrator of where to go is mostly your skill level.

If you are trying to go full on professional, it's pretty much a combination of Amazon linked to your own personal website blog. That is, if you know how to run your own marketing campaign. Otherwise, you need a traditional publisher. Either way, prepare to embrace failure as a way of life for the foreseeable future. Which, by the way, is an argument in favor of trying, not against.

Armature, but I want to become professional level. Part of the aim of the series is to build my skills so I can get published.

The story is a mix of things. Surreal things, some touches of daily life and the occasional blood bath that might involve her. All with a female lead that tries to keep a positive outlook on things and embodies a "for happiness" mentality accompanied by her cat.

Eventually, it will come to pass that while she might be…off, she's more ahead of the curve than most people (including herself) realize and the mundane of the setting (whatever amount is left, and eroding) will eventually give way to things which people might go insane from or kill themselves over rather than coming to terms with the reality they knew being a lie woven countless years ago that's starting to unravel.

In-between or during all of this having some slice-of-life elements.

Wanting happiness is stranger than any surrealism, if only because it happens. I know I wouldn't give up flying for it.

I didn't think it would be surreal in of itself. Just goes to show, it takes all kinds.
