I think Rothbard has a problem with his idea that parents own the child, but are somehow bound by law that they can't harm their own property. He suggests that they can't; it's rather they shouldn't. Lowering the value of your own property is stupid, but you have every right as the owner to do what you want with it. This applies to not taking care of the property (i.e. feeding) too.
