Yeah, this is as good an example as a NAP violation as any. No one was being overtly violent until the raging retard through that stick, then he got what was coming to him.

The raging guy apparently has serious anger issues and anxiety issues, so it's very possible those two guys were in danger if he decided to attack them. Either way, it wasn't for the rednecks to determine if he was a credible threat or not, but for them to justly respond to an attack by a person who'd just prior threatened to kill both of them.

I am not sympathetic to the two fatties in the video either. They didn't properly defuse the situation, from what I remember. However, that doesn't mean they deserve a punishment for killing a guy coming at them with a baseball bat. This thing can break skulls, you know? And he instigated the fight to begin with. Perhaps they could've defused the situation, got the guy to take his mattress and then drank a beer with him. They would've been better persons for that, but it doesn't follow from this that they were bad people. At the end of the day, this was self defense, period.

Yeah, be prepared to have your skull knocked in. Seriously. This isn't a matter of losing or not losing. If he had appointed a referee and called for a fisticuff-duel, then I would say shooting him was inappropriate. But coming at someone with a bat is not a school fight, it's a way to kill someone. Especially an elderly guy. All it takes is one sweep and you may end up dead or a vegetable, and you don't have to take that risk.
