If you want my best explanation for that feeling of hopelessness, it's mostly due to a shrinking ability to really feel like what you are doing is changing the

world in any meaningful way. This is in part comes from external factors such as automation, relative cultural gridlock (lack of production of new

creative ideas within the mainstream), and the enclosing relationships major

corporations are having with world governments. Another external factor

contributing to this shitty feeling is the rapid increase of our world population, and the increasing difficulty to make any significant impact on this massive cohort of humans. Internally, it may have to do with a lack of sense of what makes you happy in the long-term, versus short-term gratification. Self-gratification in accomplishing goals, helping make the world just slightly better, and improving oneself as a lifestyle, not just a phase, and staying disciplined at doing so will (guaranteed) improve your outlook on the world around you. Cut as many things out of your life that bring short-term happiness and instant gratification (masturbation, eating junk food, doing drugs, and video games) and drift towards things that bring long-term happiness like real life challenges such as purchasing property, starting a business that really provides people value, creating a work of art, anything you can think of that can't happen immediately, but will happen after hard work, patience, and self-discipline is put into motion. I swear anon, if you eventually find, or create you're place in this world whatever it may be, you'll be fulfilled to the point that no totalitarian, authoritarian, or tyrannical government will be able to take it from you. Just stay clean, focused, and strong, you'll make it.

I promise.

Sick memes bro, but if your problem is

>a shrinking ability to really feel like what you are doing is changing the world in any meaningful way

getting ripped or becoming wealthy enough to buy a house isn't going to make you feel any better. Maybe it'l keep you busy, is that your goal? If making people "chase that dragon" is your prescription for frustration due to powerlessness then you're a terrible doctor.

Isn't this a repost?

Protip: The Whig theory of history is bullshit, Pinker got ripped apart by Taleb and you should read Tainter.

Tainter?

Also, this was a double post the OP probably just forgot to delete.

I agree for the most part but I don't think you need to cut things out that give instant gratification as long as those are not things you rely solely on for your own pleasure at the end of the day. I still do a lot of things that give instant gratification but I've also started working out and learning to play the piano and I feel so much better just because I feel like I don't waste my day.

>> if things are getting better, why do I feel like I'm living in a dystopian nightmare?

My guess would be narcissism (endemic in modern society), materialism as the main philosophical direction in said society, and a lack of spiritual/religious worldview in general..

Suggest looking into Jordan Peterson, or Carl Jung if you can make sense of it (some people can't.. not sure why exactly).

The problem is, realistically, unsolvable. If you're not born into the ruling class and you're not willing to go out in a blaze of glory, then yeah, you will literally never change the world in any meaningful way. That's just how it is. Longer-term endeavors like lifting, gardening, entrepreneurship, etc. are stronger distractions from this fact, but they are still distractions at the end of the day. The only true solution is to just face the facts for what they are, and either go on living, content with where nature put you, or just kill yourself, because you can't deal with the inferiority.

Making an impact on the world isn't really that hard, I did a lot to help with libertarianism in my country and I'm quite proud of myself. By myself I didn't do much when looking at the big picture, but together with lots of people like me working towards the same goal, we did manage to achieve something. Just keep appealing to emotion, keep shilling libertarian populism. Find guys in your town who share your views and organize with them. Learn propaganda tactics from the leftists, and use their own methods against them.

That's if you're really dedicated to making a change.

Honestly, a lot of things are actually pretty great right now. We are living in the most decadent time in human history, pray this isn't our peak. Alarmist retards are faggots, not saying this shit is going to last forever but its foolish to go full antifa just yet. Learn to recognize when things are pretty damn good and don't be a miserable loser over nothing.

>Honestly, a lot of things are actually pretty great right now.

No it's not. The bread and circus is getting better and better, but economic freedom and the ability to pursue happiness keeps getting worse and worse. It's like you're trapped in some fancy giant prison and you comply with the guards as long as you get good food to eat, fun toys to entertain you, and cool cellmates to chat with, because you're either a high time-preference nigger or a conformist bugman.
