Heeyyy /liberty/, it's been a while. Missed all of you, that and all the shitposts that are still prevalent on the board.

So what are your thoughts on Catalan? The situation in Spain seems to only be expanding and getting worse and worse by the second, and with that in mind there's definitely some interesting tunes of secession spreading around so I figure this can create for a good discussion.

The situation is pretty much "peaceful secession".mp4.

You can't leave.

>want to find a good source of this

>can only find https://archive.fo/o5UEa

Can someone fucking help me find George Soros connections out there? I'm shit at finding information.

>everything I hate is funded by George Soros

He's probably funding the reactionary movement in Catalan, but porky that wanted to separate is just going to keep it so it will fail.

Good luck trying to find sources m8.

Catalonia is mostly a Left leaning region and Soros has a thing for funding LARPing Antifas. That, however, is not my problem at all. Anyone that wants to secede should. All the way down to the individual. I don't care if it's Commies leaving or Voluntaryists.

 No.69115

I think unconditional support for secessionist movements is a good strategy to advance liberty. That said, other strategies such as agorism are important to undermine the occasional case of a breakaway state that's worse for freedom than the former regime.

The ones who started the referendum are people who doesn't want to pay their taxes to the rest of the country.

It's simple really, they just use the proles to fight for independence and sit back and wait for the atrocity to happen so the bourge could get the sweet Soros and foreign aid.

https://mises.org/blog/spanish-libertarians-view-catalonian-independence

"Catalonia currently imposes 17 different taxes, and has one of the communities with the highest income taxes in the country."

"In 2012, something called Liquidity Fund for Autonomies was created to give communities access to grants and debt at almost 0% interest. Around 33% of this money has gone to Catalonia, even when they claim to be one of the richest, most innovative, civilised, and cosmopolitan regions of Spain. "

How exactly are the "porkies" that already evade taxes with ease going to bring about their tax haven agenda to fruition when they're about to unleash a predominantly Leftist region? Holding elections will not yield the results they supposedly pursue. There is no threat of a budding radical free market in Left Wing Catalonia. Those cheap loans hardly change the overall political climate at all. There is no existing movement in Catalonia for a freer economy and will not be one anytime soon.

>haha not everything you hate is funded by George Soros

>But part of this thing you're talking about probably is, actually

Is there a point to this post I'm missing?

 No.69124

>>69122

To clarify it further:

Those "porkies" that are evading taxes stand to benefit from further regulation and Socialization of Catalonia. The competition will be crippled and suppressed while their brand of "not real socialism" reigns supreme. They'll have plenty of cheap loans to boot. As Nationalism increases they'll get their protectionist policies across and bank an even higher profit. This isn't anything new. It's the common way Socialism is funded, which is not by the pure ideological drive of 100% of the population.

The source itself does not disprove my claim.

>Catalonia controls its education and healthcare systems and it can impose taxes over events that are not already taxed by the central government or the councils, with some exceptions.

He says taxes but I say rent from property and social contract.

I still don't understand why you think whatever the state does is socialism?

>>69123

This movement is nationalistic and does not abide by leftist (anarchist syndicalist) principles. You need to remember Soros is a neo-liberal who only funds his interests. A example against the left is the eastern bloc country dissenters.

 No.69139

>>69138

By doesn't support, it actually further supports my claim, you just need to get rid of your ideological lenses.

There is no other kind of Socialism. Expropriation via extortion and redistribution of income is the Socialism you've had and you will have.

Whoops, >>69154 fucked up posting, but anyway I posted this response in the duplicated thread, but I think its worth repeating.

I think they should have been allowed to vote, in fact polling before the referendum showed that the vote would've probably lose, but because the Spainish government was autistic and shut down the vote, the Catalan people voted for independence.

Tbh I would support an independent Catalan as long as they don't turn out to be cucks who suck the dick of the E.U.

>Towards a New Socialism

Addresses the calculation-problem without ever citing von Mises. I doubt Cockshott and Cottrell have even read him at that point. So much about "read a book".

Well, if the entire damn book is about the very calculation-problem that von Mises discovered, then yes, I expect to see von Mises cited.

Clearly, Cockshott and Cottrell themselves think there's something to the calculation-problem, otherwise they wouldn't have written paper after paper trying to get around it. That'd be like an atheist buying an indulgence while maintaining that there's neither a heaven nor hell.

If you think they're wrong, and that von Mises really just made everything up, feel free to point to the chain in his argumentation that isn't backed by anything. I've never heard anyone say that von Mises wasn't transparent about his reasoning, so that should be easy for you.
