So what are your thoughts on antitrust laws?

natural monopoly?

too many people who are pro free market when it comes to the monopoly power begin to backpedal on their principles

fear of everything big and "totalitarian" sure runs deep

I don't trust antitrust.

I'm against any Government intervention in the market and that includes anti-trust. What makes the issue complex and convoluted is when anti-trust is invoked against a previously subsidized entity. What Libertarians are actually wondering about is the justification of intervention against companies that got big thanks to Government aid. Should they be left alone to rot away naturally, or just end it "quicker" this way, and will it really "end" anything.

>companies that got big thanks to Government aid

when their source of subsidies is no more these sheltered companies will be exposed to open competition like former soviet enterprises

only a handful will survive so I see no point in enforcing antitrust

Wow; who let him out of the house without a helmet? Dude's been eating too much paste.

He's talking about the market like it's a single thing, or a single solution. That's antithetical to the very concept of a market. "Egads! These people want to impose the possibility of selecting among multiple options for everything! They want everyone to have the choice of what services are provided by whom and at what cost, instead of forcing a single solution at non-negotiable cost! That's clearly a single solution imposed on everything by a single group!"

Are you a retard? He's talking about a completely different thing. That you can't even understand this only shows how deeply brainwashed you are.

Are you retarded? Honest question.

Never work if you go by stated intent, almost always work if you read between the lines and look at what the real goal is.

Inherently less stable in the absence of rent seeking to rely on.

See, that other guy backed up what he had to say. You're just flinging shit. Unless you can add some substance, you're just an asshat.

It is practically economic law that there will never be a true monopoly because the resources and manpower it takes to establish one would be in such short supply and therefor more expensive that any company attempting to start one would go bankrupt waaay before they ever reach that point. The only way for any entity to ever be able to be able to afford it would have to be either (a)not be obliged to pay back its debts and pretty much given free reign to do as it pleases the federal reserve that supplies US currency is one of there, for example or (b) backed by an entity that isnt obliged to pay its debts the Dutch West Idia Trade company, public services, every "monopoly" that the government has let spring up. EVERY SINGLE FUCKING TIME a "MONOPOLY" POPS UP EVERYBODY JUST FUCKING SEEMS TO FORGET THAT THE "MONOPOLY" WAS SUBSIDIZED IN WHOLE OR IN PART BY THE GOVERNMENT. EVERY. SINGLE. FUCKING. TIME. And every time the government pops up and virtue signals the the fuck out of the supposed evils of an unregulated economy and "save the day" by throwing regulations left and right, setting nee precedences for interventional policies. This shit isnt about the common man, or the small business, or about the economy. This shit is about politics bevause everything the state steps in to do ends up that way.
