Is he a libertarian or a "Libertarian"?

 No.58988

The FSP website hasn't updated their counter in months, making me think either no one is moving or the entire project has been forgotten about.

A friend of mine who moved to NH with the FSP told me that the entire interworkings of the "movement" are pretty fucking sketchy. When the project launched in 2001, the state which met the most liberty criteria was Alaska, followed by Wyoming, followed by Montana. The early participants however were mostly from the East Coast, so the criteria was entirely changed so that they wouldn't have to move very far (just up i-95). Jason Sorens assumed there would be a critical mass by 2006. When that critical mass didn't happen, the FSP changed into a long drawn-out "movement".

What have Free Staters really been doing in NH? They're barely relevant as a political or cultural force. Sure, Keene has a Bitcoin machine and some restaurants in Portsmouth accept BTC payment, but have taxes gotten any lower in the past ten years? Are property rights stronger? Am I legally allowed to homeschool my kids? Can I homestead up north? How much land does the government own? Also, name a libertarian political theorist/academic or libertarian singer/pop culture icon from NH.

To be fair, I respect the decision to choose New Hampshire. Reducing the barrier to entry is the most critical challenge for such a life-changing decision. Not many would be willing to move to Alaska, or even Wyoming/Montana. Getting more people in a more hostile area will accomplish more than fewer people in a less hostile area. Even if it reduces your ability to change policy in the short term, you have to foster a culture geared toward your goals, and culture grows exponentially.

That being said, they've completely fucked up and infested themselves with the wrong kind of people. That much is apparent from what you see coming out of Porcfest. Pics very related. (I know I'm cherry picking but the same thing happened to tech conferences. The long march through the institutions is real.)

The FSP is eternally fucked, you decide why you would want to move though, no real reason for 'convincing'.

 No.59161

>>59157

NH is an island of liberty surrounded by a sea of quasi-socialist states (Mass, Vermont, Connecticut, NY). They voted for crooked Hillary last election and still have laws against cannabis (they allow real milk though which is good if not better).

If I had to pick a state to be a liberty destination I'd pick Montana or Alaska. Those states are the only ones which could realistically secede.

 No.59164

>>59161

Texas pays more into the federal government than it gets back, has its own power grid, has a history as an independent nation other than the CSA, and has a pretty strong secessionist movement compared to others in the country. In addition, knife laws recently improved and there isn't a state income tax.

 No.59165

>>59164

Yes. Texas, Montana, or Alaska as destination would be ideal.

What does NH have going for it, really? As >>58988 said, the FSP picking NH over the more logical choices is clearly a sign of a hidden agenda, namely laziness.

 No.59170

>>59164

I like Texas for the most part, just wish their gun laws weren't so cucked/their police would fuck off.

FFS we have freer/easier access to guns in Colorado (outside Denver) than y'all do down in Texas. Only laws on the books are the Colorado constitution saying it's illegal to license weapons (we only have CCW because of reciprocity with other states really), some Denver BS about extended mags, and you can't have your long arms chambered while driving/need a CCW to chamber a handgun while driving.

 No.59197

>>59165

Not him >>59164, but as a Free Stater going on three years in NH I can clear up some misconceptions.

NH wasn't chosen because the early movers didn't want to move across country. It was chosen because it has extremely lax laws on guns, lax laws on locally-produced food, very little taxes and strong property rights. It's true that property taxes can be very high, however property tax is done by town (so property taxes in Keene are much higher than, say, property taxes in towns up north).

I live in a small town called New Boston. I pay less property taxes here than I did back in Florida.

A school choice bill was recently signed, so it's very likely that homeschool laws will also be loosened up in the next few years (all due to the acts of Free Staters).

NH gets cold in the winter but not nearly as cold as Michigan or Ohio. We even got less snow last winter than Maryland.

 No.59214

>>58973

>Well /liberty/, what's your excuse for not moving to New Hampshire yet?

 No.59676

Why I won't move:

1.Massholes keep moving to NH and voting for more statism.

2. New Yorkers and Connecticutites move to NH and do the same.

3. Only eight hours away from the FEDs in DC.

4. Not enough open countryside. Northern NH seems sparsely populated *but* most of the land is mountainous and not arable at all.

5. Hippie faggots in Vermont have better gun rights.

6. NH has no ability to successfully secede. Texas has always had a strong secessionist movement and is large enough with plenty of natural resources like minerals and crude oil. Alaska is huge and could easily make it without Washington. Hawaii considers itself a "colony." Commiefornians at least have a large enough economy plus plenty of "brains" in Silicon Valley (even though an independent CA would become another Venezuela within six months). Montana, Wyoming, and Cascadia are also quite large and resource-plenty. What the FUCK does NH have going for it that could make any chance of secession possible?

7. No sales or personal income tax sound great until you realize the FEDs are primarily extorting us through property tax. Property tax is a bigger theft than anything because it proves property rights are non-existent. If the FSP were serious they'd be demanding an end to ALL property taxes instead of going after victimless crime laws.

8. Homeschooling laws are still restrictive.

9. Cannabis prohibition is still on the books.

10. Trashua, Manchvegas and Salem are full of shitskins. Last time I went to Nashua I dropped into a random bar downtown and everyone was speaking Portuguese. Muds are inherently bad for liberty since they vote for more statism. Freedom and capitalism have always been European values. I understand NH is 93% white but that high number is slowly declining. It won't be long before Salem becomes another Dearborn and Nashua becomes Rio De Janeiro Jr.

11. Most NHites haven't even heard of Bitcoin and yet we're all supposed to believe NH is the "BTC capital of the world."

12. NH voted for Shillary by a large margin.

 No.59683

Personally, I'm not going to move to NH because I want to improve my own state rather than flee and watch it consume itself with debt.

 No.59684

>>59676

Salem is 90% white.

Nashua is 80% white.

 No.59696

>>59676

>1.Massholes keep moving to NH and voting for more statism.

Massholes keep NH Republican.

>2. New Yorkers and Connecticutites move to NH and do the same.

They're tiny compared to movers from other states. Besides, most New Yorkers here are Free Staters.

>3. Only eight hours away from the FEDs in DC.

Meaningless.

>4. Not enough open countryside. Northern NH seems sparsely populated *but* most of the land is mountainous and not arable at all.

There are plenty of farms up in north country. Obviously, you've never been.

>5. Hippie faggots in Vermont have better gun rights.

They're still leftist scum. Why not come to NH and campaign for stronger gun rights in a state that's already highly libertarian?

>6. NH has no ability to successfully secede.

Here's what you're forgetting:

>NH gives more to the gov than it takes

>NH has a strong IT sector

>NH is full of self-sufficient individuals. Lack of state services forces the population to be more self-reliant

>NH grows most of its own produce

>NH is far less dependent on other states as other states are on NH

>zero taxes and regulations would encourage more small businesses to move here and build a strong, ethical economy

>7. No sales or personal income tax sound great until you realize the FEDs are primarily extorting us through property tax.

Not necessarily.

>8. Homeschooling laws are still restrictive.

We just passed a major school choice bill.

>9. Cannabis prohibition is still on the books.

We're working on that as we speak.

>10. Trashua, Manchvegas and Salem are full of shitskins.

They will leave once the last remaining welfare is cut.

>11. Most NHites haven't even heard of Bitcoin and yet we're all supposed to believe NH is the "BTC capital of the world."

Now I know you've never been here. Most places in Keene and Portsmouth take Bitcoin.

>12. NH voted for Shillary by a large margin.

Crooked Hillary won NH by something like 2000 votes.

 No.59766

>>58988

Keep in mind many Free Staters are in NH without having signed up.

 No.59778

>>59696

Great points, just to add:

6. NH also has access to the sea, Portsmouth used to be as big of a harbor town as Boston until the British destroyed it

7. The tax burden is overall lower than most of the Union

10. NH is still more than 90% white

11. I live in Keene and while not most places accept Bitcoin more places than anywhere else per capita I can tell you.

12. It was most likely liberal college students from out of state who gave her those votes. I know plenty of people who voted early in their home state and then voted in NH on election day.

The NHGOP have a plan on stopping this that ironically a lot of Free Stater "libertarians" oppose.

Not a fan of Muslims in the Middle East, but they tend to (at least in essence) support market systems when they aren't being giant faggots. At least the American variety are usually cool bros who just want to own their own shop and go to social functions. Shit, even terrorists like ISIS' main platform was to reinstate the gold standard and an education system similar to the WWI US education system (I believe they replaced music/art classes with theology and geography with prayer or something, but it's otherwise the same education system). Armyfag buddies of mine are always talking about the bitchin' black markets over in the Middle East, or how they'd buy a live goat and sharpen the halal butcher's sword to the point where he'd accidentally cut the animal's head off instead of draining it slowly (and how the butcher would get suuuuper pissed off/yell at how they were all going to hell).

Doesn't really seem like the case nowadays

Also, they have been tolerant of other religions when they have already subjugated the populace first, nations dominated by other religions have typically been given the short end of the "glory to the lord allah and his prophet Muhammad" stick. Plus being tolerant of other religions doesnt guarantee that the people would be treated in a fair way, if you need any examples just look at the mistreatment and destruction of the native culture of the people of north Africa by arab muslims. Outside of Tunis, Egypt and the pre-Islamic Berbers all sizable nations in their own time there is very little to nothing known about what the religious practices and cultural institutions the people of northern Africa had because it had been either completely destroyed or entirely converted to fit the Arabs.
