I used to be interested entomology when I was a kid, but the internet, and my morbid curiosity ruined that for me.

Spiders are cool, even if they aren't insects. I'm not brave enough to keep one as a pet though despite how colourful and bright some of them can look.

Spiders are buds for sure.

I wish I had more of them so they would get to work on those pesky moths.

I know this is a bit off the mark, but

I'm deathly afraid of insects and killing them.

It's just something about them that when I see them, my first instinct is to panic. I'm even too scared/kind to kill them so I just leave them be, whether it's a spider on the wall or a centipede in my bathtub.

All kinds of insects and arachnids just destroy me. Yeah, that even includes ants, caterpillars, butterflies, flies.

I know, I'm a little pussy.

pic is my little hamster who I much rather prefer than insects.

No offense insect-lovers.

I understand what you mean, friend.

>Live in Australia

>See giant spiders whenever it's summer

>Scared shitless of them

>Too afraid to kill them because their guts will go everywhere and be all icky or I'd have to deal with a curled up corpse

>Too afraid to rescue them and send them outside because of all those hairy legs

>Have to keep out of their way making sure they're always in the place I last saw them

>If they're missing I panic

>Loves all creepy crawlies since I was little

>Spiders included, I think they're wonderful creatures

>Even if I don't have it, I can understand why people have arachnophobia

>I just want to give those poor things love and compassion in a world where almost everybody hates them

>4 a.m., heard a knock on my bedroom door

>It's my parents

>"Anon, are you awake? Please help"

>Was led to an area in my house by them

>Huge huntsman spider, legspan almost as wide as my palm

>They're terrified of it and want me to kill it

>Huntsman spiders are, as its name suggests, huge, fast, and have really good reflexes; as intimidating and imposing as spiders can get

>this means trying to catch it gently without hurting it is almost impossible for me, it would just get away real fast

>not to mention my parents will be in terror for days if it happens, and they'll get mad at me

>"ANON HURRY BEFORE IT GETS AWAY"

>had to kill it quickly with a roll of newspaper

>the innocent spider which, judging by its size, probably had lived with us for quite a while, and helped keeping the house clean from vermins like flies and roaches

>mfw

I am so sorry little spider, I should've just take a cup and get you somewhere safe instead… God I just…

I can't even imagine how painful that is. That sounds like being forced to shoot your friend in the head…

I had a similar experience when I found the centipede in my bathtub and I just left it there for a day or two.

It couldn't get out so I just left it there to do whatever. My sister found out about it and I had to watch her kill it. it was very sad

Did you even try? From my experience, spiders, including huntsmans, are very placid and will remain idle as I place the glass around them.

Last time I tried doing that, it bolted at lightning speed.

I can't risk doing that, if it ran, my parents will be mad at me ;_;

It's strange to me that people, at least non-arachniphobics, can still hate spiders because of this. Especially where I am, where we have cases of West Nile on occasion, I welcome spiders.

>tfw EDF4 forces you to kill hordes of jumping spiders.

 No.32350>>32353

>tfw I'm so scared of spiders I kill them out of habit, usually with a boot, and use tissues to clean up so I don't accidentally touch one directly

Now, I know that they eat pests and I do not live in Australia, so they should be harmless, but something about the way they move just ticks me off. And cobwebs are disgusting and can be tough to clean up if they're on the ceiling, so I just tend to remove the source of the cobwebs.

Is there salvation for me, /kind/?

>In our history, those who quickly learned to be cautious about insects had greater evolutionary fitness and this, iterated over millennia, has got us to where we are now.
