Hello friends, do any of you happen to like anime?

If so, what anime are you currently watching or have you recently finished?

 No.30934

>do I like anime

I've watched a grand total of four series, out of which I have finished three, so I guess I don't have too good a sample size.

I've watched and finished Welcome to the NHK, NGE and Watamote, in that order. Sometime between NGE and Watamote I started watching Lain, but I kind of had things to do and forgot about it. I still have it on my drive, so I should get around to finishing it soon.

I've completed roughly 60 animu so I guess I like it?

Kinda been a lot less into it the past year though, it's sad but I ran out of good old animu to watch and all the new stuff makes me want to die.

I'm mid way through hibikie euphonium & yuruyuri s2 because I'm saving them for rainy days.

Super duper hype for koe no katachi because it's my favourite manga and kyoani tickle my good animation boner.

I recently finished watching dusk maiden of amnesia, and enjoyed everything other than the way it ended. Started watching JoJo this week. I'm on episode 18 of the stardust crusaders arc, and all I can think is "I miss young Joseph". Tried to watch more current anime like flying witch, and mayoiga, but they bored me to tears. The most current anime I was able to enjoy was erased, but that's only because I'm a sucker for emotional manipulation.

 No.30964

I'm watching Kiznaiver, Luluco, Bungou no Stray Dogs, and Boku no Hero Academia right now.

Jojo and Digimon Xros Wars are on hold.

I watch One Piece and Dragon Ball Super every few weeks.

 No.30982>>30988

I haven't watched too much anime, but I absolutely love doing it. I'm currently watching through LOGH.

I enjoy moe immensely, mostly because it relaxes me to no extent. Just as I enjoy watching medicore shounen as long as they are not complete shit, and have at least a bit of charm. I realize those types of shows aren't really that good, but I watch them whenever I'm bored, tired or in a bad mood as they get my spirits up

But for the most part I prefer GAR and mecha stuff

I'm fairly new to the anime game, but I've enjoyed it thus far. I've only completed 4 series though.

My first anime was Madoka Magica which I went in to see what exactly these here "anime's" are all about. Wound up loving it which surprised me. Mami and Madoka are both my waifus. The rest of the cast was great as well. Wonderful OST, wonderful visuals here and there with the witches labyrinths. Cool fight scenes, lots of drama. All in all, enjoyable stuff.

And thus began my journey into the horrid land of japanes animation.

Second up was Jewelpets Tinkle witch I picked up solely for the cuteness factor of tiny plush animals dancing on the screen for 20 minuets. Had some decent character moments here and there and for what it was, was fairly enjoyable. About 50 episodes in it actually started to take itself seriously and I couldn't get into it at that point so then I dropped it.

Third was Kaiba which was ok. It started off great. Had a cool world, a very intriguing premise, lots of great character moments and locations. Felt like a sort of cosmic anthology series with each episode focusing on a different world. But then it started to really begin focusing on its main cast about half way in and I just couldn't invest myself into it as much. It just felt jarring to change focus like that. The lead was great for the set up of having to have new places explained to him, but to actually rely on him and his interactions with others to be engaging? Just didn't do it for me.

Fith was Baccano! which was great. Issac is my husbando. Jacuzzi was great as well. I can't remember any of the other character's names, but I remember them all being great regardless.

And now I'm about 20 episodes through Azumanga Daioh which I was referred to as a classic. And I pretty much adore this one as well. I love the relationships all the characters have amongst each other, I love the themes it presents, it has wonderful comedic timing and generally keeps me laughing throughout. Osaka is my waifu and may be the most relatible protagonist I've ever encountered in any media. So yeah. Good stuff.

and that's my list. hope you all enjoyed my [spoilers]personal blog[/spoilers]

>LoGH

My supreme nigga. I've almost finished the series and I appreciate the truly grand scale the series operates in. A single military engagement can last an entire episode to show the audience all aspects of the battles that take place, from tactics, ship boarding, fighters as well as ship combat. Of course, the intrigue that happens off of the battlefield between the large number of characters is daunting initially, I actually had trouble remembering all the names I was hearing to start off with.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure if I can find another series that can match it, so I might have to either pick a different genre, or wait until the remake comes out and hope it is at least as good as the original.

 No.30991>>30993

>>30988

There are definitely other animus you can enjoy. You might not find anything better than LOGH, but you can find shows that are just as good unfortunately, often in different things.

I'm pretty sure that you would enjoy Berserk The manga. It has quite a lot of political stuff in it at least at the start.

Although Gundams might not be as good as LOGH, they have a similar premise most of the time.

 No.30993

>>30991

I watched the Berserk anime years ago and loved it, but even then decided against reading the manga since it seemed the series would never be finished. Do you think it's worth the read, even though I'll be forced to suffer with everyone else waiting for new chapters? How long did everyone wait for Guts to get off the boat?

You're right though, Gundam might be my only choice from now on. I suppose now is as good a time as any to start with UC Gundam.

I watched a compilation of JoJo moments recently.

It's only now that I'm going to start watching it.

I've got something like 500gb of anime on my hard drive, but I've watched maybe 150gb of it.

Most recently I finished Shimoneta, which had a kinda crappy cliffhanger ending, but was otherwise funny and entertaining.

love nectar, anyone?

Cromartie Highschool - comedy.

If you like the anime, you should also check out the manga since there is a lot that was left out.

Cowboy Bebop - sci-fi adventure featuring jazz.

Featuring bounty hunters just trying to make ends meet.

Evangelion - Mainly drama with a few mechs here and there.

Sure, you may hate the main character, but considering the director wanted to bring attention to depression, I don't think you were ever meant to like his behaviour. Also, Asuka is best girl.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes - Space Opera.

This show does everything, and does it well. Set in a future where two halves of the galaxy are at war with each other, the show features the battles that take place between sides as well as the various factions vying for power behind the scenes. If you enjoy Game of Thrones, then I'd recommend dropping that right now and watching LotGH instead since it does everything better.

Who am I kidding, it's a light novel adaptation, it will never get finished

>GaoGaiGar

A super robot mecha shounen which starts off pretty generic, but with time becomes one of the most amazing anime that you'll ever see.

>JoJo's Bizzare Adventure

You probably know it already, but probably the most GAR show to ever exist.

>Gunbuster and Diebuster

Short super robot series about cute girls doing GAR things, which although improbable, actually works.

>Serial Experiments Lain

A short psychological show about the dangers of transhumanism.

>Chaika

Although it is nothing special, it is also one of the most entertaining shows I have ever watched. And Chaika is a cute

>Big O

A Noir mecha mystery show, with some really decent action and good characters.
