Hello fellow /k/unts. As a BP /k/opper,I'm looking for a good pair of summer combat/hiking boots. I dont care if they are milsurp or not as long as they keep my feet dry from the rain and mud. They have to be black, less than 200 USD/yuropoors,comfortable to wear, have a high cut and be suitable for Eastern European Mountain terrain. So far I was thinking to get a pair of Nike SF Boots. I also added my shitty boots that I got from work as a comparison.

Danner and Belleville are the best brands to go with.

Trips of truth! I wore Belleville's for 6 years active duty military. They'll take anything you can throw at them. They were hard, no frills, combat boots.
While working as a LEO, I wore Magnum Panthers. Comfortable and quiet, which is a big thing when you're sneaking around. They felt like a good pair of basketball shoes. Does well with running, even on slick surfaces. They lasted me 4 years of duty and I bought another pair to replace them. Good value for price. The other thing I liked about them is that if you're wearing jeans or pants, they're low key resembling a normal athletic shoe instead of looking like combat boots.

£90, but they're on sale right now for £67.

One other thing to say about the Panthers is that they don't take a shine well, just so you know. I used Kiwi instant on the heels and toes mainly to cover scuffs and it worked well enough that nobody ever bitched about my boots looking like shit. They're duty boots. They're going to take a beating and look like shit. It's a given. Just a heads up incase you have inspection or roll call. Keep a different pair of parade boots in your locker for stuff like that.

I`m doing field training untill later this year and we won't have inspection and/or roll call until then. And once I`m back to BG school,I`ll have to wear my shitty boots anyway so about the shine,it's fine.

We're a LEO/Military hybrid and we mostly do stuff innawoods and sometimes in cities/towns. We don't have to sneak around too often but it's still a plus. I`m still thinking those Panthers would do great since I`ve seen some guys wear Magnums at work.

I highly recommend the Panthers and I say this as an anon who has worn them for years. There's a reason why the guys you work with wear Magnum boots. They have good tread and will work fine for hiking innawoods too. One thing I'll say is if you're going to be tromping through water and muck, you might want to opt for the Belleville boots. I'll tell you why. The Panthers are padded and cushy and will soak up the water if you get submerged. Not good. The Belleville boots, on the other hand, you can gut down to the leather and soles. They dry up quick with little to no damage. I wore something like a Belleville 700 ST (steel toe) during the war, but I'm not seeing it offered anymore. (maybe we had a special military contract, idk) For (you), I'd recommend the Jungle Runners for sloppy and shitty conditions. A Belleville will take a high gloss shine, but as said before, you can strip it down to leather and sole. No frills. My advice is to buy the boot half a size larger than what you would normally wear and install high quality insoles to ride on the inside. Stack a couple of insoles. That's what I always did. Added myself an inch in height, but more importantly it kept my toes away from the steel toe block. I was operating in cold and wet and the last thing you want is your tootsies resting against a steel block of ice in your boot all day. If you know that you're going to be tromping through muck and water, pack some extra socks and insoles. That's what I always did and it worked fine. Pamper your feet with a ton of Gold Bond powder before putting on your socks in the morning. The only real maintenance I had to do with my Belleville's was replacing the insoles because they would start to rot and fall apart. The price goes up for a Belleville boot though. $140 for a pair of Jungle Runners, but you'll never need to replace them, just buy new insoles. I loved these boots dearly and they were my daily duty boots in the military and I never had to replace them. I hope my advice helped you out.

Late reply! That was a lot of usefull information! Sadly, there are barely any Belleville for sale in Romania and those I found are way to large in size for me. I found a lot of Magnums online in Europe. I might ask around for some more tested boots. I also checked the Blast Hi Boots from Helikon-Tex since it's a pretty decent brand.

5.11 makes great gear and clothing, but their boots are garbage. Go with the Magnums.

Any pair of boots that will keep your feet dry, are going to be hot as fuck for everything else.
