Our zoo had porcupines and I happened to be on a biology class field trip during mating season. It's a disgusting odor, but not entirely "bad" so much as pungent and repulsing.

Realistically speaking a large part of that is going to be selection bias.
If you see a man and a woman walking down the street together, it's reasonable to assume they're a couple. If you see two men walking down the street together, nobody would automatically assume they're a gay couple, unless they're doing something to make it clear they are. So there might be plenty of normal gay couples you've seen without knowing they're a gay couple at all. The ones you notice are the ones that do noticeable things, which is usually degenerates and pridefags.

I find it hard to believe 43% of gays ever even MEET 500 other people they know to be gay, never mind fuck them. 1000 people might represent the total gay population of an entire town, including closeted, and you're trying to say a quarter of gays will have fucked literally every single one? You know what these numbers sound like to me? Those surveys they give out to highschoolers to evaluate teen sexual health, where half the class puts down that they lost their virginity at age 6 and have had a new partner every week since. How many of the responses to those surveys you list do you think were serious, and how many do you think were people putting ridiculous lies because it was funny?
And those surveys prove nothing about selection bias anyway because they are susceptible to the exact same bias in the first place, that the less normal you are the more willing you will be to answer a stranger's questions about you sex life. And even moreso, since they almost certainly looked primarily at places with high concentrations of open gays, like gay bars or pride parades, which are places the more normal gays are less likely to be.
Think of it this way: have you recently been asked to take a voluntary survey on your lifetime sexual behaviour? Did you answer? I haven't, and I wouldn't. I think that's true of most people. But the only way to know whether a typical person is gay is to ask and have them willing to truthfully answer. So the fact that they don't ask typical people excludes typical people who are gay.
I don't want to make an identity of liking dick. I want to be left alone, and I don't want to share details of my sex life with anyone but the person with whom those details are made, and if anyone came asking I'd tell them it's private and fuck off. People like me don't show up in those surveys not because we don't exist, but because those very traits make us less likely to answer them.

Alright so I go driving down highway 24 pretty much every week because it calms me down. Depending on how I feel I'll usually go about a 150 or so miles and turn back around a bit past where it intersects with the road to monarch pass so I'll end up going past the junction that splits and heads towards fairplay.
On may 17th right after a party some people had thrown for the end of the school year I was feeling pretty shitty, so I hopped innarav4 and started heading down 24 around 5:30 PM. I drove for about two and a half hours before I stopped at a pull off on the winding section of road before you reach the town of Buena Vista and the intersection towards monarch pass. I got out of my car and just kind of sat on the tailgate watching the moon hover above the peaks for some time before getting back in and starting back towards home.
It was around 10 PM by now and 24 was pretty much empty as usual on this section, when I got to the junction near fairplay though something completely bizarre was there. About a mile into the woods and high above the ground there was a big, luminous white orb just hovering in place above the trees, and I knew right away that it was not a plane or helicopter. I stared at the ball for a long enough time to crossover into the other lane and had to correct myself so I didn't drive off the road and could make the turn towards colorado springs. I was totally stoked after seeing the orb since I'm a pretty big UFO fan and I stopped by a driveway so I could get a photo of it, and when I got out the orb had moved to be a few feet above the grass triangle in between the two roads. It was pretty disturbing seeing the orb only a few hundred feet away from me and my car so I got back in and started to gtfo and not get my ass abducted, but as soon as I started to move the orb must have started following me.
I noticed I was being trailed when I looked in the rearview mirror and saw that the light was staying a constant distance behind me. It started to get brighter too, and was periodically shinning a beam through my windows that would reflect off my mirrors. This road is pretty straight most of the eay, and I thought the best way to try and lose this thing was the speed up. I floored the gas pedal after a mile of being followed and soon got up to a 110 MPH, but the orb easily kept up and was quickly closing the gap too.
There's a slight curve in the road that comes up soon after this point and I was not comfortable taking it going above 100. Between slowing down and possibly getting caught or flying off the road and dying the former seemed a better option. I applied the brakes and dropped to about 60 and checked my rearview mirror in between flashes to see if the orb was slowing down, and found that it was not. I made the turn and braced for impact with the orb but at the last moment it swerved and perfectly went around the side of my car before shooting up into the sky right before we hit hartsel. No fwoosh, no rush of air or anything, it just went right past me. The orb disappeared from view after that but my radio was too staticy to hear on any station for the rest of the drive through that valley so I think it was still somewhere around me. I have never been down that far on 24 at night since then.
