But I figured it was something that could easily be its own thread.

The list should be about good sources of reviews and instruction on firearms, including shooting and maintence. Stuff like Forgotten Weapons and InRangeTV are great but they assume their viewers know the basics.

Ever since he got Barry fired and subsequently stood on his grave to push his channel he's been a complete fucking shill for anyone and everything with a little chump change. Visual quality improved while topic quality nosedived and he's still pushing false/unwritten history with every milsurp video. He recommended .25 ACP as a carry caliber and took an entire week to promote shitty and fragile saturday night specials as "decent" concealed carry options.

He uses Wikipedia for information - which I guess should be a step up from the fuddlore shit out by Iraqvet1488 - but even gets that wrong half the time. Plus, he's had stupid moments of his own including having an ND during a tabletop review as well as dumping 4 rounds into his own truck hood while using a piston AR.

He's a cringe-inducing asshole I'd be embarrassed to share around.

The DUI happened but nobody's entirely sure if/what he stole from the business so I don't have info on that. Eric cut any and all contact afterwards and when people found out about him basically telling an old man to go fuck himself he had to do damage control on facebook.

Of course, he changed his mind after Barry died and started singing praises again because he was the fan favorite.

Honestly I found the videos on his channel to be pretty bad. He focuses more on showing off than actually teaching and it's really hard to absorb the concepts he is teaching. The ones of him the NSSF channel are great though.

Thunder Ranch is a good channel to mention if you really want to promote a no bullshit attitude about self defense to newer firearms users. Can't remember what conflicts hes been in, but I can assume one was vietnam and afterwards he went on to train infantryman, police and civilians.

But on the other hand, FW is actually a good channel for people who aren't really into firearms at all yet. By looking at the guns historically and mechanically it provides a different perspective from the usual focus on shooting them, so the videos do less to trigger the programming to see guns as baby-killing instruments of mass murder. That leaves the viewer less resistant to pro-gun facts and viewpoints than they would normally be.

It worked for me. I serendipitously found myself on his channel, ended up curious about how guns actually worked and how the technology had evolved, and before I knew it I was looking at them as wood, plastic, and steel constructs, rather than malevolent deathsticks. And with that "reset" the facts about guns and gun control reached, me and here I am.

RonSpomerOutdoors has fantastic videos on exotic African hunts which I think new viewers will find fascinating and might get them into hunting. He also gives a lot of info about different calibers and what calibers are superior to them.

Having said that he's also a massive shill, and mostly talks about guns only uber rich people can afford.
