but why do you think that is the plan? maybe if you help them, it will bring everyone closer with allah? if you treat them as you describe, similar to how they treat many others, than are you not also deserving punishment? do you assume their punishment is only for not accepting muhammad? is it because they do not accept muhammad that you believe allah is happy for you to punish them? is it not even worth the effort to try to convert them to islam after they are not a threat?

So if someone is afraid of being tortured to death or some other horrendous thing they aren't a very good Muslim? That is trying to defy human nature. People will always be afraid of things, but they can't let that fear compromise their religion. IE if you are being threatened with torture to death you are even allowed to renounce your Islam verbally. As long as you don't mean it in your heart, you did no wrong. It could actually be considered the better option, since you remained alive to perform good deeds.

It also tells us to not walk into a cave filled with snakes and scorpions, not to fall off of a cliff, and not walk in front of an active gunrange. Allah gave us the intellect to have fear of what will cause harm to us. You cannot claim that the only good Muslims are completely fearless. Someone can be afraid of heights and be a good Muslim at the same time.
