Hello all,

I have been a Muslim all my life but I am still young so I have not learned all there is, I have never learned the story of Imam Mahdi. Could someone explain it to me because it sounds fascinating? In all my years of memorizing and reading quran I have never heard of him. I feel ashamed.

That's because it's not in Qur'an. You have to read the hadith, too.

As far as I understand he will be a good Muslim who follows the Quran and sunnah better than anyone of his time and that's about it. He will lead the ummah near the end times and will fight with Isa (AS) therein. Heres some hadith quotations concerning his attributes, I'm no scholar so don't take this heavily.

>descendant of Muhammad (SAW) through Fatima

>same name as Muhammad (SAW) in some transmissions including father's name

>a birth mark between his shoulder blades similar to that of the seal of prophecy on Muhammad (SAW)

>Large forehead and nose

>will be prepared for rulership in one night

Some hadith quotations relating to his deeds

>will be a pious muslim

>will be given the pledge of allegiance while doing tawaf around kaaba

>an angel will announce him as mahdi

>will take Constantinople

>will fight with romans vs a greater enemy and be betrayed by romans

>will be very just and judge christians by the gospel, jews by the tanakh, and Muslims by Quran.

>Isa (as) will descend from heaven and pray behind him (some hadith transmit it will happen in Palestine during fajr)

He's an end times figure, from Al-Hasan (ra) lineage, just before Isa (as), He will be rectified in one night, before this he won't know his mission. His name is the same as the prophet (pbuh), Muhammad ibn Abdullah, Allah (swt) will give him perfect knowledge of Islam in one night, and he will lead the muslims as their caliph, taking the pledge in the arabian peninsula, which would be chaotic in his time. Initially his following is small, then an army from the levant will attack him in mecca, but the earth will swallow them. This is the sign for all muslims globally that he is the legit mahdi. By then it's obligatory for all muslims to support him and obey him. He will rule from 7 to 9 years. He will conquer the arabian peninsula, persia, khorasan and anatolia, until he reaches Constantinople. Then there will be a huge war between the west & the islamic army. After it, dajjal comes. Isa (as) descends and kills him.

That's prophet-like, I legitimately believe he will be given the Quran or a belief in it and the rest is a matter of the favour of Quran being completed upon him. The book is literally perfect and that implies he needs no more.

also there is a disagreement it the christians of who is the messiah but nobody knows the knowledge of the word. To know the word that would lead to the bible: The jewish man made concept of "messiah" is of a few verses of the bible talking about the mahdi but they attributed those to jesus who didn't do the verses (sorry if i explain further you will get confuse also i'm as well) jesus got attributed one verse of the suffering lamb while the mahdi and not jesus would be the "conseoulour" verse. Mahdi isn't the messiah but he is.

Exactly akhi, if you read the scripture the jews attributes to the messiah they're clearly making arbitrary ties between verses and strictly abiding by it, when the tanakh contains all sorts of predictions of all sorts of prophets, they never strictly all mean one prophet except in the case of the prophecies they deem unfulfilled in which case the next prophet has to fill all of them???? Alhamdulillah we're not upon such misguidance akhi, we accept all prophets in humble submission to our Creator.

The Messiah is supposed to be a king for the Israelites (banu ishaq in hadith) who will vanquish the pagans and spread monotheism. That's what jews expected, it was never supposed to be god in the flesh like the pagan christians claim. Those who were not patient did not believe in him, his mission is to be complete in the end times with his reign as king after he defeats dajjal and goes on to conquer the rest of the world, until the lion lays down with the lamb. His symbolic importance is also to destroy both christianity & judaism, by proving he is only a man as he will die within 40 years, and as well killing the false messiah of the jews, dajjal.
