I'll keep this short. I'm a Protestant Christian and I'm wanting to start to convert to Shia Islam starting when the years turns to 2020. Anything I should know or read up on before I start this?
pic unrelated.

Why wait? You know about Islam, your desire to convert means you accept Islam, so why wait? If you die tomorrow, you'll be asked why you hesitated and you can't claim ignorance. Go to a mosque, declare your faith, read Qur'an. Now.

Why did you choose Shia though?

Probably because Shia are less likely to cut his head off for accidentally walking into the same building where a woman just was.

Welcome back! But, you should not wait anymore. Not even another hour. When you die and God says to you, "Why did you not convert?" you will have no excuses. You can't claim ignorance because you're obviously aware of Qur'an and the Prophet. All you will say is, "I wasn't sure about it." and will be cast in to Hell along with your doubts.

Imagine driving a wedge in the ummah just because you pray with your hands to your side and they don't.

Worship of Allah is why we exist and prayers are a privilege. He's Infinite, Perfect and Most Merciful and we're worthless to Him. That He'd teach us how to call upon Him speaks of His Mercy, so approach prayer as you are in truth.
