Not really. I know some strict people could say pictures and music is haram, however, such people wouldn't raise children in the west in the first place since that would be 100% unavoidable making the parents responsible for the sins of their children. So probably your parents just say it's haram because they don't want you playing video games. IMO video games are fine in moderation, just like leisure activities in general.

Having played previous games in the series I don't feel confident condoning God of War specifically (I will say this, a lot of pious brothers I know have/still play edgier games than that), but vidya in general should be fine as long as you don't play excessively and it doesn't degrade you as a Muslim. Vidya can be beneficial mentally/cognitively/intellectually so try to focus on games like that.

Video games are fine until you start skipping religious responsibilities to play them. If you're missing out on prayer because you want to play video games, you're holding them to a higher standard than Islam, which is a sin. Similarly, if you consider the fiction of the video game to be more worthy than the contents of Islam, you're sinning. You aren't going to start worshiping Norse gods by playing GoW4, but if you start getting doubts you should cut down on the vidya. Personally I've played through Age of Mythology, Bayonetta and Devil May Cry and haven't had any issues with faith, because at the end of the day they're just stories with gameplay.
If your dad won't let you get a PS4 for GoW4, get one for Monster Hunter. There aren't any deities in that, and it has multiplayer.

I feel like some of the injunctions against drawing people and animals, or sculpting or making music were intended for the dumbest retards in humanity. These rules shouldn't ruin life for everyone else they only apply to sub 100 IQ folks. I think regular people can draw and listen to music just fine without falling into idolatry or becoming degenerate, etc.

Arrogance is a sin. Hiding behind a number to claim that you're immune to one weakness just opens you up to a bigger one.
If you want to know how music and drawing affects you, stop doing them for a few weeks and see what changes.

>pictures of humans and animals
I don't beleive these are Haram but if you follow this ruling then yes vidya is probably haram
>revolve around bad behaviour
What violence? How does that make seething Haram? If you are talking about sexually explicit conduct in vedio games then just stay away from these games if they are centered around it. get the censored version of you can(If you buy the witcher 3 from Saudi arabia you get a censored version)
You can also just play some grand strategies. It's literally just a map. You can go ahead and mod whatever little Drawings in it that exist if you find them revolting. My quite conservative salafi friend loves Eu4

Ok, well, keep in mind that it is a choice. We are not allowed to call haram that which Allah has deemed halal. If you wish to abstain from music, so be it; but don't tell others that they must do the same.

First of all, there are more than 4 schools of Islam. Second, the debate over music is long ongoing and there is no consensus. Even a simple internet search proves that consensus has never been reached.
Some say all music is haram.
Some say voice and drum are ok, but instruments are not.
Some say instruments are ok, but voice is not.
Some say all music is halal.
Allah permitted David to write some of the most beautiful music the world has ever known and Allah knows best. Music is not haram.

I used to procrastinate because of music. I'd put on music while doing something, and if the music ran out first I'd put another song on, and if whatever I was doing ran out I'd do more of it until the song finished. Since I stopped listening to music it hasn't been a problem.
It's worth cutting music out your life for a bit just to see how it affects you.

I agree, music is intoxicating. People will find that they don’t really miss it if they can fill that niche with something else like learning or spending time with family.

That's not an islamic authoritative text. Especially if you compare it with hadith and tafsir that say music is indeed haram.
“And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e. music, singing) to mislead (men) from the path of Allaah…” [Luqmaan 31:6]
The scholar of the ummah, Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: this means singing. Mujaahid (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: this means playing the drum (tabl). (Tafseer al-Tabari, 21/40).
The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“Among my ummah there will certainly be people who permit zinaa, silk, alcohol and musical instruments…” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari ta’leeqan, no. 5590; narrated as mawsool by al-Tabaraani and al-Bayhaqi. See al-Silsilah al-Saheehah by al-Albaani, 91).

I see you use a politicized Qur'an. When I see Luqmaan 6, I see this:
Some men there are who buy diverting talk to lead astray from the way of God without knowledge, and to take it in mockery; those – there awaits them a humbling chastisement.
No mention of music or singing. The parenthesis in your interpretation are biased.

So you know better than Ibn Abbas r.a who, the prophet PBUH made du'a that he understands the quran?
And incite [to senselessness] whoever you can among them with your voice and assault them with your horses and foot soldiers and become a partner in their wealth and their children and promise them." But Satan does not promise them except delusion.
Surah 17:64
<(And fool them gradually those whom you can among them with your voice,) It was said that this refers to singing. Mujahid said, "With idle entertainment and singing,'' meaning, influence them with that.
Point is, to say you know better than the 4 imams of ahlul sunnah and ibn abbas r.a tafsir, is to say the least, arrogant. I would be cautious if I was in your position and not post my opinion like it's a fact.

No, but I do think I know better than a politicized interpretation of Qur'an that pushes a specific agenda.
And startle whomsoever of them thou canst with thy voice; and rally against them thy horsemen and thy foot, and share with them in their wealth and their children, and promise them!' But Satan promises them naught, except delusion. 17:64
Again, no mention of music or singing. I take it you're using Mushin Khan's interpretation?

Should also take this moment to point out that the vast majority of Ibn Abbas's tafsir was compiled by El-Firuz Abadi several hundred years after Ibn Abbas's death. Before you accept it as gospel truth, you might want to keep that in mind.
Have common sense, don't blindly follow.
