A Muslim broke into my house while I was at Jumah and stole from one of my tenets…
sh*tty part is we are renting to the kuffar but this is making us look like sh*t because the guy that stole from us was muslim and the masjid is telling me to get over it but i am saddened because although he stiole from my tenent one of my electronic devices he also took.
Already tried talking to his family but they speak no arabic or english and they are all old and sick so this kind of has me in a f*cked predicament???

It was narrated from 'Aishah, from the Prophet:
"The hand of the thief is to be cut off for one-quarter of a Dinar or more." Sahih
1 Dinar is 4.25 Grams so 1.0625g of Gold = $45.07 USD or £33.21 Pounds
Narrated `Aisha:
The people of Quraish worried about the lady from Bani Makhzum who had committed theft. They asked, "Who will intercede for her with Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)?" Some said, "No one dare to do so except Usama bin Zaid the beloved one to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) ." When Usama spoke about that to Allah's Apostle Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, (to him), "Do you try to intercede for somebody in a case connected with Allah's Prescribed Punishments?" Then he got up and delivered a sermon saying, "What destroyed the nations preceding you, was that if a noble amongst them stole, they would forgive him, and if a poor person amongst them stole, they would inflict Allah's Legal punishment on him. By Allah, if Fatima, the daughter of Muhammad stole, I would cut off her hand."

Call the cops. Do NOT cut off his hand. He has the right to trial.

20 days later….
Despite what others say, I recommend you to do this…
1.Pay or compensate what your tenant lost value, not as landowner but as a Muslim.
2.Find the person and his family, offer to help, preferably with masjid representative, maybe the family too dhaif/poor and help and have to resort to stealing ?
3.If the thief do it for haram/bad stuff (drug/gambling/etc). Report to police and ask masjid to help his family back to the path.
Help the ummah, guide the lost one back to the path.

It was narrated from `Ubadah bin Samit that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
“Carry out the legal punishments on relatives and strangers, and do not let the fear of blame stop you from carrying out the command of Allah (SWT).”

I like how you're completely ignoring the bits about bringing witnesses before a proper judge. Stop encouraging OP to cut off someone's hand.

That's in an islamic state, not Mad Max vigilantism.
Pic somewhat related, based Ashraf Rifi from Lebanon.

I am the original poster and to all you guys aying call the cops is like saying call the kuffar. My family is terrified of cops we live in the states and the police treat everybody like ☻ walk on carpet with shoes take note on who we 'think' is the 'suspect' say they will check it out but this would mostly follow under a civil case… and what do we as muslims look like bringing this up with a kuffar judge and audience only for the thief to ditch court anyway.
I pretty much chalk it up as a loss if i run into the asshole i will detain him with whoever is with me and sternly talk maybe take equal value say few hundred from his wallet…
It sucks because just a few months ago his mother was telling me to help keep him on al mustaqeem and out of jail but i said that i can only do that if he stops doing wrongs… looks like now he got me and his excuse was me doing business with the kuffar
i am shamed that my simple blessed deen is always stained by lack of discipline with the muslims in the community and a disconnect between nationalities as well as between young and old :(

Well, you don't get to enforce shariah in a non-Islamic state. I live in the US, too, and we are bound to fol.ow the laws of the land in which we dwell.
This >>26122 is the best answer.

Narrated `Aisha:
The Prophet (ﷺ) purchased food grains from a Jew on credit and mortgaged his iron armor to him.
Abu Hurairah said:
"The Messenger of Allah said: 'A Hadd punishment that is carried out on earth is better for the people of earth than if it were to rain for thirty mornings."' (Daif)

What is the evidence for this?

Let’s be clear the words “mortgage” and “credit” in that context are not related to interest. The armor was held as a rahan (collateral) and the grain price didn’t accrue interest.

I recently had something stolen as well. People who complain about the hadd punishment for theft being too harsh don't know what they are talking about.

My issue is not with the punishment being too harsh. My issue is with people thinking they can dole out punishment based on supposition without any sort of judgment or trial. We don't get to go around lopping off hands because we're mad.
