“We heard he was having financial problems,” Louay Nassri, President of the Masjid Al Saalam mosque told Arkansasmatters.com. “Now if you don’t pay your fine, that’s an automatic six years in jail. Well, we didn’t want him to go to jail for six years,” Nassri said.

Six years in jail for vandalism is unrealistic. This is fake.

It wouldn't be 6 years for vandalism. It would be 6 years for not paying his fine, which would be a contempt of court charge added onto the vandalism charge.

>not paying his fine, which would be a contempt of court charge
This is wrong.
And it still boils down to six years in jail for vandalism. This is fake news.

It could be a max sentence or a condition of his probation. I remember when this happened a few years ago, it is an actual event.

Hate crime vandalism is treated differently than regular vandalism I assure you.

Except that it's a matter of public record with the Fort Smith, AL courts. "Fake News" can't fake court records. Alabama has very strict hate crime laws ever since the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing. Stop riding /pol/'s dick.

Public record? Source needed. I honestly looked but couldn't find anything open to the public.
I would put money on it this is fake. People do not go to jail for six years for vandalism. That's more than battery or armed robbery, which are far more serious crimes.

Vandalism of a place of worship in Alabama is a felony. Six years is not unusual for a felony.
