Yes, this is a Muslim safe space.
If you cannot handle that, leave.

Hello my friends, buddhist here.

I've heard muslims say that there are no "converts" to Islam only "reverts" because everyone is born muslim until their parents or environment change their religion, etc.

Then I thought about apostasy requiring capital punishment. And I put the two together:

Doesn't this mean that every non-muslim is guilty of apostasy until they "revert" ?

Those who reject (Truth) among the People of the Book and among the Polytheists, will abide in hell-fire, they are the worst of creatures. (Sura 98:6)

Yes. But if they have not heard the call of Islam or heard it from a distorted source, they will not be hellbound.

Also Apostasy is only punishable by death if paired with declaring war on Islam and fighting Muslims.

As far as I know, Muhammad has mentioned that you can Christianise or Judaise or Islamise your child, but if your child stayed alone he'd choose Islam once he grows up. So.. I guess.. maybe?

That's a bit of a stretch.

Allah intends for you ease, and does not want to make things difficult for you 2:185

The term "revert" is an english word that expresses an Islamic theological idea, but in terms of Islamic law (and by Islamic law I mean the mainstream orthodox understandings of Islamic law expressed by Sunni/Shi'a centers such as Al-Azhar, Najaf, Istanbul, Qom, etc. not Riyadh) anyone who is a Christian or a Jew or in some cases even a Buddhist or Zoroastrian (depending on whom you ask) a distinction is definitely made between someone who has never heard the word of Islam or has never had it explained well enough to him that he'd consider converting and apostates. You could say it's a kind of legal difference between victims either of deceit or circumstance who "know not what they do" and those who consciously deceive and manipulate for selfish ends despite knowing the truth. You'll notice that the Qur'an quite often accuses the leaders of the Ahlul Kitab (people of the Book), not naming anyone specifically, not necessarily the average non-Muslim.

Also, Islam recognizes the Ummahs of the previous recognized prophets as legitimate, even if in their current state they have gone astray from the original message of that Ummah under their respective prophet. Christians are part of the Ummah of Christ for example and so it is not for the Muslims to interfere with the Christians' internal affairs as even through their errors in understanding Christ's message, they are still in some sense under Christ's jurisdiction that a Muslim who believes in Jesus as the prophet of Allah would not overstep his bounds with respect to trying to correct them as ultimately it will be Jesus himself (pbuh) who will act as the witness against them during the end times. It is not for us to pass the final judgment on them and assume Christ's authority in that respect.

The hadith you're thinking of says everyone is born on their natural state and then made into a Christian, Jew, etc. Elsewhere Islam is known as the religion of nature.

Who else doubts the whole execution of apostates rule?

>The term "revert"

I hate this term, it sounds cheesy. It's not respectable.

Christians today are not part of the ummah of Jesus.

> I said not to them except what You commanded me - to worship Allah , my Lord and your Lord. And I was a witness over them as long as I was among them; but when You took me up, You were the Observer over them, and You are, over all things, Witness. Quran 5:117

>Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness.’ - Matthew 7:22-23

>I hate this term

Honestly, so do I. I don't even like the term "convert". I prefer to say "I embraced Islam". I don't believe I converted nor reverted. I became.
