So… I don't come from a Muslim family, but most of my relatives are non-religious, so it hasn't been much of an issue until recently. Somehow, my sister's husband has got it in his head that I'm going to be recruited by a terrorist organization, and commit a bombing or something. His fears are completely irrational, and I'm sure he has a lot of baggage from the two tours he did in Iraq and Afghanistan (he's a marine btw, and also a rabid Trump supporter), and…. in about a month I'm going to be having dinner with them. It's gonna be totes awks, and to be honest I'm kinda scared of him. What should I do?

tl;dr: My sister's crazy ex-military boyfriend thinks I'm a terrorist, please advise.

Nothing. If they ask questions, answer them. If they insult and bring falsehoods, go home. There is no reason for you to stay in an abusive atmosphere.

I second this OP. I'm a convert from a non-Muslim household. My parents went ape[foul language] when I told them, they still are going ape[foul language] about it. That said, if they ask questions answer them. If they outright insult you smile and go home.
