M64 is just honestly not that great. The only reason people really love it is it's just the first one they played.
I view it the exact same as people whose favourite JRPG is FFVII.
I've actually never played any Conker, despite how readily I fanboy over anything Rare touches.

I would never say it's not. I enjoyed it. I've never actually finished it though, I lost my memory stick partway into disc 3. There are just so many good RPGs it seems bizarre that it would be anyone's favourite.
IX is very good, even if the characters are relatively forgettable.

Neptunia was horrible about that.
Usually the trick is to synthesize materials and craft good weapons in the game.
Demon Gaze is probably my favorite. But I'm a sucker DRPGs and exploration is literal crack for me. Ys is also good series. I bought Ys1&2 and steam and was thoroughly surprised how gripping the game was. First Trails was really dull and felt like an Asuka clone. I need to finish it

The 1st one is really clunky and pretty broken in some builds, from what I've heard.
2 and 3 improve on it quality of life wise, and 4 is a bit of a side step from 3, at least I think so.
I'll probably break down and order the ones I'm missing, since I haven't been seeing them pop up in my local used stores at all.
The earlier ones are especially hard.

No, they're completely separate. EO games do take place in the future, however.
Strange Journey just used the same engine as EO, so the gameplay is a similar style. No mapmaking though, which is a little sad.
As for the used stores, I haven't been to any of them lately. But pooling my cash for some switch releases next month.

Zelda, SMT, and xenoblade got me excited.
And the inevitable monster hunter game is going to be great, I hope.
That's a smart move, there's really no reason to buy one right now.
A lot of the niche DS games are starting to skyrocket in price, it's a little sad.

I bought the grey new 3ds as well as the special edition of monhun 4.
DS has a great library. Has some of my favorite kirby games on it. Lots of interesting RPGs too, like Radiant Historia, and Covenant of the Plume.
It might just be hindsight, but I feel like it had a much better selection than the 3ds ended up with.

Knights in the nightmare was an interesting one, too! And it had the rune factory games, and Megaman ZX! I've never heard of Covenant of the Plume. It definitely had more gems than the 3DS did.

I could never get into rune factory, but I'm not a harvest moon fan either.
The megman starforce games were pretty alright, too.
I remember seeing a really interesting 3ds game really early in it's lifespan, Kanata's Labyrinth (?) that got me really excited. I never heard of it again, I think it didn't get localized. I think that's what happened to many of the more obscure 3ds games, they just never came out over here.
