You are basically describing any hypnosis. You want to be hypnotised which makes you open/suggestible to the experience.
Her "cult" were people who wanted to be that close to her, and give themselves in any way. That's also how cults start anyway.
So Lita found the right people who were a) into her in a big way b) into hypnosis and her style of delivery. She then got what she wanted whilst they got what they wanted. Continues to this day.
Difference was she did this in ENG and allowed her close circle to visit each weekend. Then she moved to EU, so a lot of her followers visited her new place as they had done in ENG when she lived there but less frequently.
Having that close circle of loyal followers, "the cult", who she allowed to meet at weekends has been done by others to less extent. It's dangerous at times you never know who someone really is.

There's a fantastic psychological trickster in the UK called Derren Brown. He did a programme where he convinced everyday members of the public to rob a bank.
At the end, he went to pains to demonstrate how much screening was involved, just how tiny a number of people were selected compared to how many were examined. How much work they had to do based on what they knew about that individual person.
And it still wasn't 100% convincing. Because Brown has lied about his work before - like the time he "predicted" lottery numbers and explained it was the "wisdom of the crowds". (Something he later expressed regret about.)
But honestly, swap this gay British entertainer out for a hypnodomme with fat tits and they could tell you they hypnotised both Biden and dup to be their sex slaves and I swear half the people that believe this nonsense would go along with it, for exactly the reasons discussed.
