I just want to backtrack here to talk about the math of the first couple posts.

Spoiler: I'm an accountant, I handle this paperwork for a living and people's complaints about taxes have been burned into my memory.

The self-employment tax is 15%.

Our dear mistress may additionally be paying anywhere between 20% (unlikely) and 40% standard taxes as well. Given her earnings I would ballpark around 30-35% to be safe.

This means that on taxes alone that 2k per month she earns from Patreon has been reduced to 1k, which is barely enough to cover a decent rent.

Now I don't know how much she actually makes from selling her files on top of patreon money, but what I can tell you is that she still has:

* food to buy

* recording equipment to upgrade, and believe me professional microphones, software kits, new storage drives and whatnot aren't cheap

* electricity, internet, phone, heating, running water (if that's a thing they charge for where she lives)

* half a dozen different random taxes and expenses based on which city she's based in (since these charges tend to depend)

So, not to be a sour puss here, but earning 2k a month via patreon is not a lot if she's being honest to the government. Now, sure, this is internet revenue, and it's very easy to lie about it and not pay taxes, but it's also illegal and unsafe.

So get your head out of your ass if you think she's swimming in cash.

Well, guy, that's how taxes work. The self-employment tax (flat 15%) replaces social benefits you'd normally pay your employer for (retreat fund, unemployment, insurance, etc.) and there's no way around it whatsoever if you're self-employed.

It does add itself to regular taxes, which, for 2017, are:

If she makes 2k$/month on Patreon that's 24k/year. It's exactly a third of what she actually needs to live comfortably.
