They do say it would be better if they'd developed the character more, essentially admitting it was a shitty token minority. If they'd actually gone into things like the girdle and genderswap spells and generally used it to explore a world with wizards and shit, cool. I've got ideas for games with incubi and succubi feeding on soul energy who get hurt by the wrong gender, so having a tranny in there could serve a legitimate exposition purpose. They could redo the old LOTR "No MAN can strike him down" bit and have a tranny be a legit option for killing some fucknut.
There are ways to include people that are this or that, but when certain kinds of people are vanishingly rare, you need some kind of story reason for it, otherwise you end up with a Chekhov's Gun that didn't get fired. You need an idea that requires the character, or have a character well-developed enough to shape events around them, not throw in a tickbox checker and work something out. As trannies sometimes like to say, anyone who doesn't make a song and dance about it could be transgender, either passing well, or just acting in agreement with their physical sex, so to be trans in a story you need to play it up.
