It was intended as actual documentary before Owen dropped the spaghetti. Your idea could work anyway. The Movie is split into 6 distinct parts that are 25 minutes long at maximum. If you take these as criteria for were to split, you could remix it into a short series just like these documentary series you sometimes see on History
