I never understood why anyone would feel the need to "come out" about any of this shit.

I mean, it's not like the general gay questioning where your mom keeps asking why you don't have a gf and why you don't have kids, and you pretty much have to admit it at some point to get your parents to leave you alone about it.

Unless your parents are specifically bothering you about what kind of fantasies you have, which seems really bizarre to me.

Difference is, shameful things you do not tell, but things you are proud of you do tell. If you are proud of being furry you will want to tell them. But if being furry is source of shame to you, you will never tell them and you will not understand why others do this.
